I was pondering the idea of putting a 3" lift on the taco, and getting either 20" or 22" rims and tires on there. I wont be putting on those rubber band tires, I want a little bit of meat on them, but not enough to rub. just something to cruise down the street in and some MINOR offroading as well. can you guys steer me in the right direction?

You can fit 33's with a 3" lift, given the proper backspacing. That would be a 285/55/20, or a (cringe) 285/50/22

A buddy of mine just put 35s wrapped around 20" rockstars on his Tacoma with a 3" lift. It rubbed when he drove straight.

You can't put on any bigger than a 33, but it might look more like rubber bands than you want.

Its a chevy but an Example, 4 inch lift with 33 inch tires with 20's

You might think about going down to 18" wheels. Have you ever priced tires for 20-22" wheels? IMO 18" look plenty large enough and save money on tires.

i agree and i think 20''s are just too much unless you want an urban 4x4 that never sees the mud

x2 on the 18's. Mine came with 18's and I am wanting to go down to 16 or 17. tire options are slim and prices are higher.
anyways- heres 18's with 33" bfg

I usually dislike 18s or bigger on lifted trucks but that looks real good man! I think it's the rims, their not that flashy.

X2 - do you know what rims they are - I'm thinking 16's on my taco would look good

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Yeah I agree with everyone else 20's & (22s ) are way to big for the Tacoma a 20" rim looks OK with a 35" or 37" tire but if you want 22's 40" tire is the min tire size i would go with and I don't think your truck and handle 40" tires ;)

Just buy 18" even that's pushing mall crawler status but you should be fine with those.

i'm running a 3" lift with my 33's and 20" wheels. only problem is when i go in reverse and cut the wheel hard, my right front tire rubs on the little plastic lip that covers the fog light. other than that, they fit and look good (for factory wheels)

So you don't consider a 55 series tire a rubber band, like you said you wanted to stay away from in your first post?

    These are 285/55/20

Go 16" or 17". Anything bigger than that looks trashy on a Tacoma
