Wondering how bad it is to leave trailer on bumper hitch for extended time

I bought a trailer and have kept it attached for a month now to my rear bumper and not jacked up, is this a bad thing for the leaf springs and/or rear shocks?

I think the tongue weight is about 450 pounds but I also have about 100 pounds of stuff in the bed over the rear axle. I have Eibach stage 2 suspension, so gas charged, if that matters. I'm just wondering if it is kept that way for several months if the leaf springs will retain "memory" or similar and then won't lift the back of the truck as much...? Or is everything designed to be used this way and no worries?

You have nothing to worry about.

Thousands of contractors leave their trucks full of tools the entire life of the truck.

I don't try to keep weight on a vehicle suspension if I don't need to. Yes, at some point the springs will start to sag, when depends on the metallurgy of the springs.

In a Toyota, that's about a week...........[I like Yota's but their leaf spring metallurgy pretty much sucks nowadays for US vehicles, it was NOT like that a couple decades ago.]

Personally I jack up the tongue when I leave load on it over night.

Makes me feel better about my leaf springs. I just did it last night.

I don’t know if I’d do it every day if it’s always connected though.

The springs will wear from driving more than sitting. So really it’s fine.

It’s probably not hurting the truck, but I can think of much cheaper trailer storage solutions.

That's not too bad. I know at one of the old places I worked they used a 2015 F150 as a water truck with a 350gal tank. My mechanic friend that work there and I both compared the leaf springs between another 2015 F150 work truck and the water truck and sure enough they were permanently sagged. That was a lot more weight and more frequent so that shouldn't be a big deal
