My 2010, acts up, usually in freezing temps and large temp swings. Somewhere on here, there's supposed to be a fix for it, but I haven't tried it. I also keep giving some thought to just replacing it.

Thanks. I'll keep trying to find that thread and share it here. If you find it first, I'd appreciate it if you'd post it here also.

It's not what I call an easy fix, but it's doable. You first have to order an on-off rheostat, pull the radio, and then replace it.

I've got the same radio in my 2012 and a new clockspring behind the steering wheel helped the majority of its ailments.

Also I have heard some had success by pulling off the volume knob and blow in there with some compressed or canned air.

Seems sometimes fuzz and dust gets behind the knob and makes it do strange things.

I have the same one. Last year it froze. It was on with volume on high, black screen and non responsive. I pulled the fuse and it worked.

That's exactly what mine does most times. I'll try that first. Thanks very much!

My 2010 standard radio volume control is crap, luckily the steering wheel controls work ok, can't wait to upgrade!

I have a 2012 with the same radio. Exact same issues when the temp drops. Blank screen or the screen flickers from dim to bright. The volume and other buttons don’t work. Everything works fine though once the cab warms up. Super weird/annoying.

Just ordered a Joying setup as a replacement.

I have read in the A/V forum that a lot of older headunits develop issues like this. It apparently has to do with the heat sink coming separated from the I/C chip that controls functions. It is repairable, if you have the time and patience. You have to pull the radio apart to one of the inside chips. Pull the heat sink, clean all the dried paste off, clean the U/X I/C, resolder all the contacts, reassemble and pray you didn’t miss something. Cheaper to buy a cheap head unit.

I was told by the dealership there was an update that would fix the problem. I put off making an appointment and when I finally went down there, they said the update was no longer available. I went to this link and put in the model and year, chose Without Navigation, and it says there's no update. There's an update for a unit With Navigation, but not without(Mine is Without). I could download the update for With Nav, but I'm afraid it might screw it up. Looking at the install instructions, I see where I would need to be able to tap the very bottom of the screen to install it. It's highly unlikely I could tap the bottom.

I had high hopes for your suggestion, but there's no update for my unit. Since I now have my phone connected, I'm going to order the screen digitizer and try that. Thanks

It doesn’t make a lot of sense to repair these
You can get someone’s old one, or a junkyard pull, etc if you really want to stay stock

There are many better aftermarket radios available
