Was working on the truck yesterday...added some switches for some off road lights. Just jumped into the hot on my dimmer switch. Did the grey wire mod while I was in there.

Took a truck for a drive to test the grey wire mod, everything was fine.

Got in the truck this morning...got full power on everything thing, go to crank it and get this horrible grinding noise! Seems like the plunger is stuck somewhere barely on/off the flywheel?

Put it in reverse and let it roll back a bit, try again and same thing.

I guess the first thing I should check is if I have full cranking power out of my battery...

Then maybe pull the starter?? Although I did replace the contacts on my starter a little over a year ago, and have not had a single starter problem since then.

    Any other thoughts/suggestions?

OK, so I went out was going to attempt to remove my starter, I got plenty of power from the battery...each time I try to bump it the motor jerks violently.

I was about to undo the trans dipstick bracket to get to the starter and noticed these 2 wires disconnected!! And, I can't figure out where they go??

I have a downs syndrome boy living next door, and I think he was over when my hood was up yesterday...not blaming him, but, possible...

Would these being unplugged be the source of my problem?

They're for a option you don't have more than likely; not starter related.

Yeah, maybe that was to my 7th injector kit??

But, as far as I can tell, it's my starter that is spinning and it's my motor that won't turn...why I get the grinding noise and why it seems the motor jerks violently??

I can't figure out why though...now I am actually looking for tools dropped in there and can't find any.

those look like the connectors to the 7th injector on my truck. Maybe the previous owner had this option. Not starter issue.

That would explain why I couldn't find them in the FSM.

Did you try tapping the starter with the mallet? I was serious about that.

Did that earlier...and nothing. Did it again just now with a small hammer and a jump and it started!!! Running like shoit though...

Maybe time to take the starter to get tested again and replace my negative terminal on the battery post.

    It's always the simplest things
