05 V6. Starter won't won't even click or of course turn the motor. Just noticed electric windows don't work either, related?

I have 12 volts to the starter at the large cable. I assume I am supposed to get 12V at the connector when the ignition switch is is turned to start, I am NOT getting any voltage change there (single wire)

Battery is good and all fuses are good.

Problem just showed itself one day. Had been working perfectly up till then nothing. The truck isn't registered right now and of course not started regularly but but I have a battery tender on it and fuel treatment in the gas.

Looking for suggestions on what it might be before I call the tow truck.

    Thanks

Check your electrical connections for high resistance such as paint, oxidation or corrosion, especially your grounds. A voltage drop test would be the next step. Burned starter solenoid contacts or worn brushes are also worth checking. Sometimes tap with a hammer on the starter motor is a quick way to temporarily reseat them to start the engine.

Brushes may be worn down. Sometimes they can be taken out and grounded back like they should be.

You may just need to actually charge the battery though.

Electrical connections are pretty clean. Started like brand new then a couple weeks later not even a click even with my Ram 1500 hemi jumping it.

I am thinking maybe a rodent chewed the trigger wire or what ever the proper name for it is.

I don't have a wiring diagram yet so I don't know where it goes to check continuity.

You got evidence of rodents? It could be the brushes in the starter since it's 9-10 years old. You can buy a brush kit for the starters.

How old is the battery and did you load-test it? Don't assume it's fine because it shows 12V.

12 volts is not enough. You should have around 12.5 or above. Do a load test on the battery.

Quick load test- TRy to start and have your test leads on the Battery connections--NOT the battery terminals.
    report what you find.
Takes two people-one to turn the key and the other to take readings

If you are stranded--SMACK the starter with something heavy-while turning the key to start.

The starter needs amps to turn the engine over. If the battery has a bad cell it can't deliver the amps to the starter even though the remaining good cells are fully charged. That's how the battery can show 12V when you test the voltage but it can't start the truck.

Read the 1st portion of the original post.
    EVERYTHING works-just will not start?
1st push the clutch cancel switch-same problem?
NO click in the start position?
Or slight click and no turn over?

Guess he found the problem-it would have been nice to let us know!
    Oh well!
Funny the little tricks you learn over the years.
It sure appeared that he had a "contact or Fuse" problem.
If it was not the battery-always check the obvious FIRST.
