Not the steering wheel, as the key turns freely with no effort. I can turn it all the way to where it should crank, but dosen't . Thanks though.

I'll post a follow up tomorrow when I get back from the dealer.......

Check fuse # 24 labeled STA 7.5A under hood.. If that looks fine check under dash #1 fuse IGN 15A and #7 IG1 NO2 10A

I dont know if the new Tacoma is set up this way but check for a fuse pack inline on the positive cable coming from the battery. If there is one there it may be where a fuse blew for ignition. Also-disconnect the POSITIVE cable for a few minutes and reconnect and see what happens- I feel bad for ya pal-that's your hard earned money there. ASAP I would be up their asses till they take care of it.

I would think one of the larger, higher amp ones. Not sure, but I am thinking that whatever fuse supplies power into the ignition switch might be blown. Sounds to me like you don't have anything happening when you turn the key on.

Edit: looks like Sethr is more informed than I am.

Seems like the problem might be with the engine immobilizer system...

This problem sounds like what happened to a TW member a few months back. Think he broke down in Meridian MS. On his way to TN. Never found the problem. Just got it towed to the dealer and it started up on it's own with no explination. Well atleast that's what I remember.

X3 That sucks. I feel for you. I thought that happened to me a few weeks back, turns out my battery prematurely died, but the lights (even my aux lights) and dash lights though all came on. The truck just wouldn't crank. I paid $130 for a new battery. Overpriced SOB. but it started. I have no idea what it could be but best of luck. Id call up the dealership and piss and moan to them and tell them to bend over and take it up the tail pipe! (At least til you figure out what you did to it)

It's just a fuse. No dash lights indicate to a fuse. He stated his anti theft system turns off when he puts the key in so that is outta the question because that light will not turn off until the system detects the correct key. As far as fuses go check anything having to do with starter and ignition. I think there should be a total of 3 or 4 fuses if I remember correctly.

I dont want to thread jack here so if you know you can PM me if you'd rather. I just figured since we were talking about fuses already :D

Common problem, just fixed mine. Basically, you pull the compass/thermometer out and look for the resistor that breaks loose from the circuit board inside. Resolder, all is well. There is a detailed thread on here that shows how to do the repair.

I'm not normally the one who says this, but SEARCH!!. :D
