I would say twist the test light, but it’s like an ice pick, stab em in the eye! Lmao.
I would say stab em in the eye with a soldering iron, but there’s probably not going to be one of those around either. Haha. All joking aside, probing wires and the infamous “scotch locks” have caused way more trouble than they are worth. Go look under any brand new car trailer....scotch lock city...from the factory. I guess that keeps the customers coming back because the lights don’t work. Oh well.

    100% spot on!!

Those people cause far more problems then they ever fix.

Stabbing holes in the insulation every inch.

Yes, everything looks good where the ground wire connected to the block. Quite clean.

Here are the cables that I just cut the insulation off from. The insulation itself was in great condition.
Two pictures of the negative cable:

And two of the positive cable:
    Positive1.jpg Positive2.jpg
The positive definitely looked much more discolored. Some green patina was even in there.
Would this level of corrosion cause problems?

The first time it occurred was about 3 weeks ago. Which was about 2 or so weeks after the latest repairs. Related? The problem that was fixed during the last repair hasn't happened again. While there have been several "starting" issues, each one has been different from what I can tell.

2-week update. Everything has been fine. No failures like before. It appears the cables were the issue.

I'm curious how this happened? The worst discolorization was on the positive cable near the center. But the insulation looked perfect. Is there something I could have done to prevent this? Or can do to prevent it from occurring on this new set of wires?

New wires should last years to come - spritz the battery terminals with WD40.

Interesting sidenote. I've had the CEL 0420 for many, many years. Tried a bunch of stuff. Never fixed it. Gave up and just accepted it. When I would reset it after checking to see if any new CELs came up, or when disconnecting my battery, it might stay off for a few days before showing up again. After this repair, it's been off for over a month now. I never would have guessed the code 0420 could have been related. Is it possible? Or just a fluke?

Those terminals you have cause more problems They are made for a emergency get me home not for long term use.

Check out the Marine type terminals
Quite possible the code was tripped by losing a ground on the O2 sensor circuit no real way to prove either way.

It is gone and that is always good.

Replacing the battery cables and Terminals is a must for every new to me vehicle .

To the point I have the goodies to put the ends on the cables.
