Won't take fuel

I have a 2002 Tacoma.2.7. When I fuel it up it takes about a half gallon before it stops pumping. No codes show up. Any suggestions?

 

Half gallon max or only 1/2 gallon at a time? Can you squeeze the trigger after a few seconds and get another maybe 1/2 gal in again until it shuts off?

Possibly collapsed filler neck hose, vent obstruction or faulty rollover valve.

Some pumps take some experimenting so it does not kick off so fast.

I always use the slowest setting on the nozzle .

I fuel at many different vendors all the pumps are different .

one of those things I correct without thinking .

 

Check the fill site... do you still have this metal flap?


I had a mazda tribute that had the spring break and the metal flap fell down the filler neck and was sitting on the anti siphon screen. I could only fill about a 1/2 gallon at a time, major pain in the ass when filling up

 

Does this happen often or did it just happen for the first time? Every once in a while I'll get a pump that I have to babysit cause it'll cut off after a few seconds everytime I get it setup. But that only happens at random pumps, its not a truck issue but a pump issue.

That's how my mazda was. Did not matter the pump. Took me 3 weeks to realize the flap was missing... I think I that's the anti rollover valve that was mentioned? Not sure about that

 

I don't think y truck ever had one. I had it 3 years before it started doing it.

I only posted it cause I was shooting in the dark based off past life experiences. Missing that little metal flap was the cause of my issue in my old mazda


I honestly had no idea we had an anti rollover valve in our fuel system
