Found a local that will deliver mixed pine/eucalyptus/oak logs in 19' foot lengths in a high sided dump truck. Supposed to work out to 3 - 4 cords for $350. Think I'll put down the cash. Doubt any of it will be burnable this year but I still have a 3 cord permit for the local forest to work with. Another plus is that my dad, who I've been firewooding with since I was 5, just retired and has loads of free time to go wood hunting.

Gonna clean my chimney tomorrow because we have a huge storm front on the way Wednesday packing massive amounts of rain , we'll probably want to flash up the ole stove for the first burn of the year

    From Environment Canada ~

"A series of powerful October storms will approach the BC South coast late Wednesday night bringing heavy rains and strong winds through the weekend.

Rainfall will be heavy at times. Total rainfall accumulations from these storms may exceed 200 mm for West and Inland areas of Vancouver Island, while inner coastal regions may exceed 100 mm.

Strong winds will also accompany these storms. Winds over exposed coastal areas may exceed 80 km/h at times during these storms.

As these storms advance toward the south coast and progress through the region, weather warnings will be issued and updated as needed."

    200mm = about 10"

We probably have some to spare

It's possible. Long range forecast shows a miniscule chance of rain and cooler temperatures starting in SoCal late this weekend. I'd be happy with 10mm of rain.

30 degrees at the house this morning (That's -1 to you, Oz). It was still 70 inside, though, so no fires yet. Maybe if it keeps this up for a few days, but we've been in the 50's and sunny during the day so we've been working off of the solar gain from the windows. Got the pellet stove loaded up just in case we need to take the chill off some morning, though.

Yeah my bad , I blew that one lol

I always think of a foot being 30cm because the old wooden rulers we had in school had inches on one side and cm on the other but 10" isn't even 2/3 of a foot , not sure what happened there haha , brain cramp

Oz, go get another cup of coffee with another jelly donut. 2/3 of a foot is 8 inches, which 10" is more than that.

    10" isn't even 2/3 of a foot

Which is saying 10" is less than 2/3 of a foot which is not true. 10" is more than 2/3 of a foot.

Not 10" is less than 2/3 of a foot

Drink more alcohol and have a better reason for lack of brain functionality.

Are you expecting to see much of the storm where you're at? I bet you will have plenty of wood to keep the fire going while the power is out for a week.

I have family in Everett, Bothell and Sammamish which range from about 1.5-3 hours south of Vancouver. I've been keeping a little eye on it.

I've got Family in Redmond and on Camano Island, and they've all battened down the hatches for this one too.

Wife in Spokane said it's raining really well right now at home and the gravel driveway is a bit flooded right now at the low point before the pavement starts. I'm in NE Oregon and it is raining here, but not bad.
There is a wheeling trip going Saturday to Manastash and they are expecting some slick trails and tree damage to body panels.
