    I have an absolutely ancient Chopper I. It's probably 40 years old. Great tool. They superseded it with the Chopper II which was a PoS. I use my Chopper I for all smaller stuff I hand split -- anything that I figure I won't need a wedge for.

    Finished splitting wood for next season - just need to stack it and cover it so it can dry out. I fabricated a log lift for my splitter from parts from the local HF store.

    Yea, I built it ~7 years ago. My tractor hydraulics are only 6 gpm so I needed a pump to make it go a little better. Works decent and doesn't take up too much storage space.

    You cutting for next year or the year after? I always had 2 years ahead stored in a dry place so I would never have to burn green wood. Miss those days.

    This morning I was cleaning the ashes out, getting ready for the day's burn, when I ran into a problem - the ash pan would not slide out. I crouched down and peered in, saw something sticking down, pushed it up and got the pan out. I looked again at the dangling thingie and it looked like iron! I'm thinking oh boy, brand new stove and it's already broken? So I poked and wiggled and finally the thing fell out. It's (most of) an old iron square nail. You never know what you'll find in old wood.
