Wood Heat Thread ~ post pics

I’ve gotten it at rural king. Around here they’ve had a good selection in sizes. Came in a bag of prob 10’ maybe

 

Ok, you guys know I am talking about the stuff to wrap glass windows. I have all the other gasket material.
I found some from 'Perkins'.

under the old silver boat cover is leftover from last year . Probably split some of that at some time because too big of chunks

Nice! My old Harbor Freight splitter is still going strong after 25 years.

Hoping I'm good for the winter or at least most of it. Last year was fairly mild and only burnt thru about 1 cord and maybe 1-2 ricks. Got 2 fulls cords in the other day. I'd love to process my own but working 7 days a week and having a large garden this year just doesn't leave any time for cutting, splitting, hauling wood. I do have a few trees I'm hoping to drop this winter and let them start seasoning for next year.

 

More scrounging. Nice big Red Oak that got taken down (too close to a house). Said that he wanted to mill the two big trunk pieces but that I could take the rest. Got about 2 cord out of 'the rest'
My trailer takes too long to load, though. Should have bought a smaller one.

 

Cut up most of a giant Beech tree that fell earlier in the year in the woods behind the house . Next years firewood !

I don't look forward to those days. Right now I can still throw a couple cord of stove length around one day and wake up feeling fine the next; never more than a little stiffness that goes away 10-15 minutes after I wake up. But my dad is in his 60's and after a day of chasing his saw around he's popping Vitamin I & icing his back for most of the next one so I know it's coming eventually.

Yea , my back pain is pretty serious unfortunately.. 58 years old . Couple bulging discs in my neck and degenerative disc disease and arthritis in spine . I keep moving despite the pain because sitting around doesn’t help . No surgeries yet on back . Occasionally have some muscle pain that is pretty serious we’re I actually can barely walk and causes me to actually yell out in pain .

 

About the same here just add some old plumbers knees to the mix. Is why I don’t like winter

 

All that hard physical work when your young catches up to you in the end unfortunately worked hard and played hard
