    No thank God it's rotated I burn the oldest first usually around 4 cords. I'm in the mountains of Maine and it gets pretty damn cold here.

    Side walls of wood storage area are old garage doors & top is old patio cover.
    You can only cut dead wood and in the spot I was going to (Dog Valley, CA) it was getting harder every year to find dead trees. Once in a while they let you cut certain live trees in certain ares.

    I have a good size Harman wood stove. It is not unusual for some of the big old houses here in Maine to go through 10 cords of wood a winter I think at that point I would sell the fire wood and convert the money to oil they bring that to the house in a big truck.

    I only started burning last year and we went thought about two cords. I got behind this year and didn't get as much split as I needed so tomorrow I'm renting a log splitter and getting my cut but unsplit stack all done. I think it'll end up being maybe 3 cords once it's all split but I don't know how to judge how much split a stack of rounds will make.

    I have about 2 cords already split that have been stacked since last year but I want to have more split in case it's a colder winter this year. I know it'll be marginal quality but if I don't get to it until feb. it should be decently ok, plus it was all free.

    hard to tell , the bark looks like a type of cedar but the ends of the rounds look like hardwood

    Unless you want a lot of overnighters , splitting it so it's not all rounds will let it dry a lot faster

    I am a residential contractor so I get some from jobsites , some from trades , never say no to free firewood

    Haha heck no. I wish it got cold enough to really enjoy a fireplace here. I love the smell of it. But there's also nothing better than sittin around a fire out in the woods. I'm assuming you use fire wood to heat your entire house, right?

    I have a woodstove on my main floor and another in the basement

    There is no smell inside the house because the woodstove is totally self contained .

    The only time you get any smoke in the house is the occasional small puff if you open the door too quickly
