So in removing the oil pump to a newish to me 2.7 (I just finished rebuilding the top end) I noticed the key was a bit sketchy. With that said I don’t have much to base my assumption on. Based on the pic, should I pull the gear and do a new key or just slap it back together? C857480C-CB78-4474-AE75-A66A1B7E5BC4.jpg

If the key is flat on top and clean, without burrs, I would not replace it. It looks like it has been filed (or maybe replaced, or maybe it came from the factory that way), probably to make it easier to put the gear and crank pulley back on. BWDIK

It’s not too flat, more of a moon.

Where can I find the Woodruff Key for a 2004 Pre Runner 2.7? The one on mine broke in half because the Balancer broke due to a loose bolt. I've tried fixing it ever since the day I got it. the fix I did, lasted for two years at least. I ordered a new bolt, balancer, and now need to rethread the crank once I get the old broken piece of the bolt out, not being very easy.

Only $3.30 for a spark plug, but $8 for a teeny tiny Woodruff key. :spending:That's why I hate dealers.

Sorry for the problems you're having.

Well I was able to get it at my local dealer for like $5.00, and I just finish everything. Engine started right up and ran good, but now I don't have any oil pressure. Looks like I'm not done yet, new oil pump has been ordered and if that don't work I will need a whole new timing chain cover at around $300+ lucky me right?
