I don’t envy you. I have gotten to the point where I don’t enjoy projects these days and I’d rather just pay someone to do those things for me. Good luck on the stove.

I mulled over moving the gas pipe (somehow remove it from behind water heater and water softener in the garage, cut and re-thread, then reinstall), relocating the 220v plug (won't be using it as stove uses 115 but want it there for future), and relocate the 115v recep. Fuck.

I then decided to pull the back off the stove to see what kind of space there was. Lo and behold, cavernous! Contemplating the choices, I grabbed my metal snips and cut out the bottom. Of my brand new $2000 range. Probably voided the warranty. Oh well!

Also, stopped by the granite place to see about shaving the sides so the stove will fit. Got the impression it's too small a job and they don't want to do it.

 Are all the materials behind it heat and flame tolerant? That bottom burner on the gas part of the oven… :bananadead: has me worried for you.

Well... now I need to take a look! I just ran the break in, where I ran the oven for an hour, so once it cools I'll slide it out and see. Does that thin metal provide much thermal protection? What can I put around the receptacle and gas line on the wall to insulate it from heat?

Ouch. Could have had the first letter in the 3rd guess but changed my mind.

I feel like I'm bad at this game until I realize that there's no skill involved in guessing one letter over another and it's just luck. I mean, there's some skill in deducting but if there's 8 combos and I don't pick the right one, there's nothing I did wrong, logically.

my technique is a starting word with common letters. It’s typically “stare”. It has all common letters and ends in a vowel. Next word is using what I got right with the first word and trying again to think of other common letters. same with the third. Most times I’ll get the word in 3-4 guesses but others like earlier this month I was 5 and 6.

See the spoiler below to see my technique.

HI GUYS! I didn't know this was a thread. Oh good. Now more time wasted at work at home never wasting time at work.

Remind me to post the first guess with the last 4 letters in it. I got a chuckle from it.

My problem wasn't the starter, it was getting the last 4 letters right, leaving several options for the first letter

Agreed. My response was just that there is (imo) more to it than randomly guessing words. Finding words that use common letters is a technique beyond a random guess.

Don’t get me wrong, at some point it’s about luck and I fumble often.
