I bought a pair of Timberland Pro "pit boss" steel toe boots for my new job that I'll be starting August 2nd. They fit fine but they are heavy.

Any boots I should look at that are lighter?

    They have to be:
composite/safety toe (steel gets cold in Winter)
    black
    oil resistant
    waterproof
    6" boot
    no side zip

    I wear size 11

Checkout overlookboots.com or workboots.com. Plenty of selections. Lots of filters for features too.

I tried a pair of Keens, but they fell apart on a couple months. Rep would not stand behind them. Just ordered a pair of Georgia boots. Had a pair of Timberland Pro that lasted about a year before the outsole started to peel off.

I have tried so many different safety toes and these are leagues above all of them. They are so comfortable I wear them even when I'm not at work. I get a pair every year, not because they wear out, but because work gives an allowance that is use or lose. All other safety toes I've worn I've had to put Dr Scholl's inserts in to make it through the day, these I don't need them. Also they are definitely waterproof.

Can u wear sneakers? Or do they have to be boots? I have been wearing Puma composite toe safety sneakers. Google it. Super comfortable, light, and they last about a year of everyday use(about 16000 steps/ day). They are very nice for inside work.

I think they have to be boots because of the industrial location of the work. I'll find out my first day. I'll ask about sneakers and boots. I'll prefer sneakers in the warmer months.

    I don't get a shoe allowance.

    Be prepared.

Redwing 6" steel or composite toe will be over $200, maybe pushing $250.

I wear the timberland pro powers rain shoes. They last a good while. I know you said 6” but figured I’d respond anyways.

I haven’t been happy with anything besides ariat.
Im a welder in a chemical plant so they get the abuse, ariats are the only ones that hold up in my experience. I get a new pair every 6 months and at the end of that 6th month period they are about shot. Rocky, wolverine, red wings, fall apart and get holes in them pretty quick I’ve tried them all. With crawling in and out of vessels and crawling in the high line welding they get more abuse than most peoples boots. If you’re just casually walking around all day any boot you think is comfortable should hold up pretty well I would imagine.

As many as I can fabricate
I have wore redback boots for twenty years in a automotive environment. Made in Australia. I choose the non steel toe but they are available. I have had two pairs in twenty years. Mine are slip on. At 64 years old, twenty years on active duty standing on steel and another twenty on concrete, I'm telling you there are no better boots for me, except Raichle which are no longer made. These boots can be cold in the winter outdoors.
    Just my 36 cents.

I honestly wasn't super impressed with my last 2 pairs of redwings. They were mostly fine, but I didn't think they weren't the god tier boots they used to be. The most recent pair chewed through shoelaces remarkably quickly.
