I plowed my entire life with 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. This little thing is a beast! I only do my stuff and a few other driveways for friends. I would never do commercial work (lots and roads) with it tho.

That's a Hilux for you. Hard-as-rock rear leafs don't sag.

Depending on the job, plowing can shorten transmission life significantly. Parking lots are worse than roads.

Yeah, I wouldn't think it would be good for big stuff, but I figured it would do ok for the little jobs.

Yeah, that's what would worry me. I didn't plan on doing any plowing, just wondered how it would handle it.

Honestly,. If you use it right, use 4 lo when needed, and have the tranny cooler in the tow package, this thing will do just fine. no worries

It isn't necessarily the heat. Plow large areas like parking lots requires you to shift between drive and reverse very frequently, so all the actuation parts in the tranny see an order of magnitude increase in duty cycle.

Still, depending on how well the plowing contracts pay, it may be worth the cost of a tranny rebuild every couple of years. :)
