Yah, I don't want to beat this thread to death but it's not the shift cycling that does harm. It's the constant push under a load and the heat that builds as a result of using the wrong gearing. You can overheat the trans and burn the fluid, making the cooler a, + for plowing. Lots are tough because you can have a long push from one end to the other with a heavy pile on each pass. Shifting forward and then to reverse works the u-joints a bit harder than normal.
I been doing a 60x100 yard size lot for the last 12 years with a 90' GMC 3/4 ton that's an auto with original u-joints still. Really beat that old truck to death, she is not on the road, only plows the lot now.:D

I just picked up an 85 4runner and I've been wondering how well the Tacoma would do pulling it! Looks like you don't have any trouble with it so that is great to see. What size is your trailer if you don't mind me asking?

The Taco does fine they just hate hills when towing. A little more power would be nice (really want a supercharger). The trailer is 16' with single axle brakes, no problems stopping it. I also have Firestone Ride-Rites to keep the Taco level.

Before airbags: (blurry picture, it was cold as shit)
I towed like this one time. It was low but never hit the bumps.

    After airbags: nice and level

Bed full of red oak split for fire place and trailer packed full of stuff too. Steel frame trailer, wish it was aluminum but hey when it's a barrow at no cost then why not.fa29022c48062eae475d91b7c7012cba_32b2465b1f266fea19a36a4a00e1418ac94c15d7.jpg
This is typical heading to a job site. Gang box weighs a good 500 lbs and the other little one maybe 150 lbs. If its a longer job I'd have my stainless kobalt box strapped in with the gang box.

I need bags if I'm going to haul more frequently. I'm maybe an inch off the bump stops at best after re arranging the trailer.

Naw, kid in college, no $ for a compressor, I ran the two fill lines through the plate that holds the 7 pin connector, i keep a bike pump in the truck, easy to pump up when needed.
