Towing is much harder on stuff. Towing will cause stuff to fail that has not been maintained. I'd never have towed with yours especially in condition it was in, but I hear ya.
    Bummer. Gonna get spendy.

Yeah I just didn't wanna be that dick with the only drivable vehicle I'm already taking back home and say "nah sorry man I can't help you out, even though your transmission went out" lol but hows that saying go? No good deed goes unpunished... haha

Well my rear axle is back in business, has been for a while just been busy. Took a trip up north not too long ago and ran into a family in a new jeep sitting on 35s and they were not hesitant to see what it could do especially because i turned in behind them down the trail. For some reason I have no pictures from that trip.
Truck has been treating me good lately though, next step is to get my leaf springs and rear shocks installed.

After all the heartache and truck break she is finally set, my little beast is done. I finally have all my fox parts on her and I'm digging the stance it gave her.

Depending on how far west, remember the cost of living on the west coast is expensive.

I now how you feel. After buying my shitbox for $5500 and after the years pass and I am about +9000 doll hairs into it - can't sell the dirty ol' taco now! I had the 5 speed R150 F blow up on me while driving and lost some gears. That was an expensive fix. Now I have a fully rebuilt trans. I just drive it now until something else breaks. lol

Makes me feel a little better about spending 1200$ on mine and then putting about 5000$ into it

Glad I could help! lol It was more of a rescue mission. Rescued it from a pre pubescent untimely demise.

Which means that you started working right after the economy stabilized. Plenty of electricians and other skilled trades were hard up to put food on the table back in 2008-2010.

It's good to have confidence in yourself, but don't think you're immune from twists and turns of the macro economy.

My dad ran his business through the housing market crash (2008ish) without a problem, he's been in business for 30 years now, it was those that weren't smart about their money, the guys that were living beyond their means that went belly up. But let's face it, there are way more half baked electricians (just like every other trade) out there than actual good ones, trust me I work behind the hacks everyday. That and the workforce is starved of electricians.
But nevermind that nonsense, my truck is done and I'm happy as shit about it.

then you ought to move 'west' to my little hellhole in the great plains, we are nearly immune from everything here hahah
no housing market decline, no bad plague virus going on here, in the top 3 of the country for lowest unemployment back then and now
its been 3 months since we had the first 100 virus casualties and now just getting to 200 casualties in the county, which is not bad for a population just over 500k!
although i could bite my lip if we hit 400 by thanksgiving...

Thought I'd better check my air filter for whatever reason.... sure glad I did
    20201108_153955.jpg
Could that be an explanation for my lack of gas mileage lately?
I feel like such a noob for not checking that when I bought the truck but also kinda questioning why my mechanic never checked it or changed it o_O
