yes but not in all cases. for instance, the tundra has such big side view mirrors, mpg is actually increased with windows down over a/c on...ill try to find the test article.

"Windows open instead of using air-conditioner: Often people will cite the increased efficiency of running the air-conditioner rather than opening the vehicle's windows. We were surprised to find that, for this truck, anyway, it wasn't true. We recorded a fuel economy increase of 9.5 percent when we rolled the windows down (at 65 mph) rather than turning on the air-conditioner under the same conditions. With the windows down, driving with cruise control set at 65 mph we got 20.9 mpg and with air-conditioner on and windows up we got 19.1 mpg."

With my new AFE Im basically hitting the wall at 26.5-26.75mpg now and can average higher yet. That might be all she wrote. So in the summer I imagine it will go way down

    ok to answer some questions.

Why was plus gas cheaper than reg?
It was at a gas station in Towanda, IL more or less smack dab in the middle of nowhere. coulda been a screwup or more ethanol? who knows.

    Where is the V8?
To quote Winston Churchill, "The V8 Tacoma is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma."

yeah this was sort of a one time deal. the only reason i filled up after 100 miles was because the needle on the gas gauge was way higher than it normally is after 100 miles. so thought it would be interesting to see what the mpgs were.

my normal avg is 18-20 so this was pretty spectacular. 25mpg is certainly not my new standard, but it must be somewhat significant to achieve for 100 miles.

agreed. I'd be happy with 18-20mpg average. can't seem to get over the hump though. I ain't driving any slower than 65 on Hwy. maybe if I remove the mud flaps and tailgate I could get it up 1 or 2 mpgs.
