Actually it wouldn't. I had a 1993 Blk/Blk Typhoon that I put a PTE52 Turbo on, 3" ATR downpipe and catback, upgraded chip, ATR adjustable wastegate set at 15psi, MSD complete ignition, vortec ported head conversion flowing 276cfm @ .500 intake lift with phenolic spacers, ported upper lower inatkes and some other small boltons. It would definitely not touch a ZR1 or a GTR.

It probably would do good if the Typhoon powerplant was in a car, but it being in a 3900lb brick doesn't help at all.

I always heard that the Cadillac CTS-V was very quick.Maybe not "super" quick though.

I actually had a 2005 V as well. The 2nd Gen V is far superior to my model and they are definitely quick(mid to high 11's stock), just not in the league of the ZR1 or GTR's. They would have been a lot quicker but the new models tip the scale at close to 4100lbs. If they could have got that number close to the 1st gen V's 3800 it would have done much better.

except for the fact that it competes with supercars for 100k less. True engineering is when you can perform at that high a level and not pay for it.

Wow! I didnt know that. Pretty impressive...

So what makes the enigines in any of the other cars so speacial? The fact that the ZR1 is making twice as much power, with fewer cylindars, then some of the other supercars is pretty damn super if you ask me.

We are talking production cars here, not aftermarket modified. And a 1000hp civic might go in a straight line but you try racing a fwd 1000hp car around a track and you will be ending up like the McLaren MP4.

So lets see. A ZR1 can do over 200mph, beat most of the "supercars" around the ring, and in acceleration, but since it's a Chevy it can't be classified as a supercar? That's logical:rolleyes:

Please, someone explain, in detail why the ZR1 would not be considered a supercar if it does everything, and more, than most supercars do.

Come on man. Do some research. The ZR1 has a Supercharged LS9.

The block is the same as the LS3 but that doesn't make the engine an LS3.

So because of the car model? So if GM gave the ZR1 a new name so it wasn't associated with Corvette model it would classify then. That makes sense:rolleyes:

I think you forgot to copy this part too...

However, the proper application of the term is subjective and disputed, especially among enthusiasts. So-called vehicles are typically out of the ordinary and are marketed by automakers to be perceived by the public as unusual. The supercar can take many forms including limited production specials from an "elite" automaker, standard looking cars made by mainstream companies that hide massive power and performance, as well as models that appeal to "hardcore enthusiasts" from "manufacturers on the fringe of the car industry"

The LS9 also has the following which the LS3 does not:

    Titanium Valves
    Forged Pistons
    Titanium Connecting Rods
    Different Cylinder Heads
    Piston Oil Squirters
    Larger Head Bolts
