on the inside ZR1 looks like chinese made ikea crap....

For all the brains that went into the corvette designs. I can't help but wonder what 5yr old did the interior. Plastic, cheap, vinyl covered covers and panels. It doesn't even feel like quality plastic. such a shame a great car like the ZR1 contains the identical interior of nearly every other vette...

I definitely do not consider a vette a "supercar"

it may have the power of a super car. but it isn't. It's just your regular run of the mil American "made" vette. They need to stop adding numbers to abbreviations and increasing the price tag. in my mind. if they put that much effort into research and design of their engines. What on earth happened to everything else?

with 2003RC51 theories. A honda civic with a built up engine, lighten chassis and what have ya. would that be considered a super car? what if it kept up to the vette? what if it beat the vette?

I believe the true definition of "supercar" is up for debate.

    to each his own.

my opinion of a super car is wel thought of design not ending in just performance but also bleeding into the category of lines and body as well as frame design and constructions. How it handles, how it moves, the agility, its ability to overcome certain forces such as body roll, tilt and over steering. How advance its gearing system is and etc.

If I were or had to buy a vette today. It would be pre 90s.

edit: just saw the ford. That right there my friend is America's only supercar.

I was about to post that if the interior wasnt crap I'd start to consider it...

Supercars, I believe are labeled on a production standpoint.

I agree that the classification of a supercar is up for debate. Although if you research the ZR1 you will see that it has everything most "supercars" do, and more. Aluminum chassis, Most everything carbon fiber, magnetic ride control(most supercars don't even use this technology) and carbon ceramic brakes among other things.

Trust me, the ZR1 is an extremely well thought out design, problably 100x more thought out than most "supercars" out there. This is why you get better performance for a hell of a lot less money. The ZR1 excels in every category that you base your supercar classification on. The only thing that would be up for debate would be the body design, but that is left up to the individual. Body design/look should not play any part in the classification of any car.

I think the Jag XJ220 looks like a pos but it is still a supercar.

2003RC51 are you part of the ZR1 design team?

sometimes.... the more advance something becomes. The less it becomes as a supercar.

ariel atoms. as simple as it can get. chassis, suspension, engine, intake, exhaust. Has less crap than any other car. No power this or that or control this or that. No magnetic what have ya and crap.

put a competent driver behind that machine and it comes to life. Beat any f1 cars out there. and even than it wouldn't be a fair race.

you are forever in my book a ZR1 troll....

I wouldn't expect most of you to understand this. I have driven more Ferrari's, Lamborghini's and Porsche's than most people have looked at. I worked on them for over 4 years day in and day out and I know for a FACT, that they are nothing special. Every last one of them is overpriced and under engineered.

you're having lots of fun aren't ya? ahha

edit: I am out of this thread. Congrats 2003RC51. You've turned a perfectly cool thread on awesome cars racing to an epic ZR1 fanclub thread. I believe this will be dead in the waters soon enough.

Not in Gran Turismo, although I use to play that a lot when I was a teenager. I got to drive a lot of these cars because I was the lead fabricator for Norwood Performance for 3 years.

I've walked on the moon, so I'm an expert in the comparison of G-forces when turning.
Also, I've skinned african albino buffalo, so I'm an expert in the inspection of leather.

And I passed kindergarten so my opinion that the Vette's interior needs work still stands.

Here is a link to the website. You can see some of the cars that came through in the "Ferrari, Lamborghini & Maserati Service" and " History & Gallery" sections. The only one that I didn't get to drive was the F40 that my RC51 is pictured next to. It only had 400 miles and he just wanted the custom short pipes made for the exhaust and then back in the trailer.
