Blah blah blah. As said, you have done a great job at turning a cool thread into a ZR1 fluff-fest. It started cool, and now just sucks

This thread is awesome (since it died). While I am at work I can't help but participate.

The ariel atom has a 0 - 60 in just 2.8s I know there are cars that can beat that number with ease. however, those cars weigh a lot more than the atom.

The only issue I can see with the atom is its weight and ability to hold downforce.

What I can't fathom is the fact that the atom is fraction of everything a supercar is. yet it proves to be a significant threat.

    Just a cool fact.

F1 cars generate enough downforce at approx. 85mph to drive upside down.

WOW... still under the impression that the Ariel can beat an F1 car. I am amazed at the lack of knowledge you posses on this subject.

2003RC51.... the more you post. the more lack of knowledge we think you have.

If I can somehow put it on a track for you. I want to say it'll be one hell of a race. Atom's have produced 4 versions to date. starting with I4 for 2 gens and now a mated 8 and a v8. funny as even their previous I4 versions were giving F1 a good fight. Some guy brought his atom to willow springs last year. there was a Mclaren there as well.

Mclaren was pretty pissed. however it was all for fun.

hahaha. You don't even know what an F1 car is. As in Formula 1, not McLaren F1, although there is a Mclaren/Mercedes Formula 1 car.

And btw, the fastest Ariel Atom lap time at the ring is 6:47. The BMW/Sauber F1 car is estimated at 5:15.

Do some research. A current Formula 1 car will generate roughly a 1:1 downforce at 75-80mph. It doesn't take a genius to draw the conclusion that if said car weighs 1300lbs and at 85mph it generates over 1300lbs of downforce that it will be able to drive inverted.

And no, I have not worked on an F1 team but I am a huge fan and I research the things that I am interested in.

    From Wikipedia:

Such an extreme level of aerodynamic development means that an F1 car produces much more downforce than any other open-wheel formula; for example the Indycars produce downforce equal to their weight at 190 km/h (118 mph), while an F1 car achieves the same downforce:weight ratio of 1:1 at 125 to 130 km/h (78 to 81 mph), and at 190 km/h (118 mph) the ratio is roughly 2:1.[10]

Let me help you out. If a car is at 1:1 it would theoretically weigh nothing when upsidedown. Think this way, if a car weighed 0 pounds would it stay on the ground? No. It would float. So at 81 mph it would not drive upside down, it would float and be weightless. So nice try at drawing conlcusions but I would stick to facts if I were you

If you go to wikipedia and click on the [10] after that paragraph you will see that they pulled the information from Formula 1.
