That's just pretty. I go to pickup a Keystone Springdale on Tuesday and this whole discussion affirms my thinking. I can't wait!! Congrats on your trailer. =)

I found the wind hitting the front of the trailer was usually worse than just weight. After adding a canopy to the truck it helped my mileage quite a bit. And by quite a bit I mean like 10mpg to 12. Still sucky, but noticeably better. That wasn't with a trailer that tall, but I bet it would still help. Maybe others can chime in. Ive heard others in the trailer threads with the same feeling, as well.

Pardon my ignorance... but what exactly is a "canopy to the truck?"

Canopy = shell = camper shell. They were always just called canopies when I was growing up, But usually people say shell now. Shrugs.

Thanks for the response... My step-dad had a shell on his Silverado when I was growing up, but I do not remember that term being used (although now I'm wondering if he did use the term and being a snot-nosed kid i didn't pay attention, but i digress). I didn't realize it made that much of a difference. Definitely sparking thought...

How far have most of you gone with the trailer? I'm driving out to Montana from NJ end of this summer. We are thinking about buying a small 3,000-3500 lb trailer, but dont know if anyone has taken one that far before. All in all its 2,500 miles one way.
