There is a lot that is crappy about these trucks but in my opinion the top of the list is the front mud flaps that hit speed bumps, then break loose while on the freeway and beat the shit out of the side of your the truck.

This. Both of mine did that.

Then there is the power inverter that can barely do 100W while driving.

The bucket seats (see my new thread), and certainly those ridiculous non-flexible mudflaps.

I am just using the voice option to look for address with in 10 miles of me. Some times it will try in Puerto Rico, Florida, North Dakota. I only search in my own city/state.

They're good enough on dry pavement, but as soon as it rains the rear end skids out if I take a corner too fast (I'm talking about turning the corner at an intersection, not a bend in the road). Fortunately, I'll be able to justify new tires by next summer.

Winch, front hitch, step bars, bed extender, bed step, gull-wing toolbox, tailgate lock, security system, cb radio, etc.
So, based on the comments here, it appears nearly every single aspect of the Tacoma is disliked by at least someone. Are you guys certain you made the right decision when selecting this particular truck? If we got rid of each item mentioned, perhaps we'd have the vehicle you'd like - a plain-jane nothing with no market value (every other truck outselling it).

As for myself, while I don't use or especially "love" every single thing, there's nothing about the vehicle I truly dislike. Wouldn't have bought it if that was the case. I purchased the truck specifically for the TRD Off-Road package with skid plates, rear locker, A-Trac, shocks, BFG tires, and similar. Very satisfied with that purchase.

The chrome grill and bumper looks great on my silver truck (chrome wheels pending). The bed's power outlet is routinely used to charge cordless power tools. Couldn't access the bed without the folding bed step. The temperature guage w/freeze warning is useful on long trips. The tow package is serving well. Bucket seats are comfortable. Cloth floor mats look good, as does the sliding rear window.

Wasn't thrilled with the mudflaps, but no big deal (already easily fixed). Indeed, modifications to most things are fairly easy.

I think you also have to look at resale value when you consider not getting a TRD Tacoma, and modifying everything yourself. Is it practical and "kind of" what I'd have wished I'd done, yes. When you decide to sell it, and underneath it all, it's still a TRD Tacoma and the general potential Tacoma buyer only recognizes one thing, TRD.

I personally like the TRD seats, and don't think I could stand the SR5 model solely for this reason. Not really the cloth difference so much as I'm actually a leather man, but the overall style/fit of the TRD seat IMHO is superior to the SR5. Had I never came across Tacomaworld, I'd still be mucho happy about my TRD purchase, even more than I already am.
