Worst casting choices ever?

We’ve all seen a movie or a show where an actor is cast to play a part that is way out of their character and you’re wondering WTF were they thinking having so and so play this part.
Example: in the books Jack Reacher is 6’5” and 250 lbs so wtf were they thinking when they cast Tom Cruise to play Reacher in the movie?
Anybody got any more examples?

I know he won an Oscar for the role but hear me out, for one, he lip synced the entire performance and two, Sasha Barron Cohan was slated to play Mercury, and wouldve actually sang in the film, plus I think he was born to play Mercury, he has it, the charisma, the razzmatazz on tap…., unfortunately Queen wasn’t on board with Cohan’s vision, making a film about Mercury, and all the insane shit he did throughout his amazing life, the cocaine parties……., the band wanted a “safe” film so they went with Malek instead.

 

Cruise as Reacher was the example I was going to give.

Nothing to be ashamed about, it’s a decent film but they played it too safe, it has no balls, they didn’t do Mercury justice imo.

 

They did, they said this was going to be a tribute to their friend, not some type of expose. I totally agree with their decision. Might as well celebrate the guy’s life.

I hear what you’re saying but you can have your cake and eat it too in this life. I just feel that Freddie burned so brightly during his time with us and that the film failed to encapsulate the mark he left behind.

 

True, but his friends would not cooperate and they didn’t want to make that kind of movie—especially May.

Elton John was a bit more honest with his own movie, but I think that’s because he’s really proud of kicking his drug addiction and that lifestyle.

Shailene in divergent was not great, Theo James in Downton Abbey, and I am not sure about Miles Teller as gooses son in the new starwa.....I mean Maverick hahaha.. this post got me going now haha

 

Speaking of Leto, and I’m a fan of his for the most part, I felt he was the weakest link in Blade Runner: 2049.

 

The guy who played Han Solo in Solo. Daisy Ridley in all 3 Star Wars movies and the way she smiles after every sentence. Zendaya in anything i.e. Spiderman and Dune. Emilia Clarke is horrible in anything other that GoT. I'm starting to find Ryan Reynolds pretty "cookie cutter" in anything he plays. Same actor, different costume. I'm sure there's more but these are the ones that jump out at me.
