The divorce was about as good as a divorce can be. As far as the BR I still have 3 more years but its only going to get better.

They are the worst dealership I’ve come across in the Portland area, Broadway and Mccords in Vancouver (I live in Camas) are both way better IMO. Bought my Tacoma from Broadway after the salesman at Gresham Toyota laughed at me and my wife for not being about to afford the ridiculous payment plan he offered us.

It’s funny you should say that...

My girlfriend at the time (wife now) went into a place called seaport auto... she was looking for an SUV type rig but had bad credit from an ex of hers getting their car repoed (among other things) many years before I came around. I went for moral support and to make sure they didn’t take advantage of her. We walk in about an hour before close because my wife had to work that day and tell the guy we are here to look at xyz and she was trading in her Ford Focus. He proceeded to take the car keys and play that game of hiding the keys to keep us there. He proceeded to show us a bunch of cars well over 100k in miles and 10k over the price she wanted to spend. When she saw one that she kinda liked we started talking more in depth about numbers. They couldn’t get her no where near what she wanted to spend and continued to dick us around about 100+k miles SUV’s. Finally I got into the conversation and raised my voice about us leaving and he still wouldn’t give us the keys to her focus so I started walking back to the sales/finance offices with a very raised voice about how if I didn’t get my girlfriends keys back I was calling the police for kidnapping. He stopped me before I made it to the offices and went and got the keys. On the way out his exact quote was..

“If your girl would pay her bills on time you wouldn’t be in this position now get out of my dealership” and laughed

Took all the grace I had in me not to turn back around and beat the shit out of that dude because her credit wasn’t fucked up by her lack of paying bills more her trust in a really fucking shady ex boyfriend.

Long story short avoid Seaport Auto on McLoughlin in Gladstone

Shit like this probably pisses me off the most. 1. You don't know everyone's situation...maybe she got her identity stolen or something too and 2. It doesn't take much to be a somewhat decent person...maybe just try a little bit.

That is insane. :facepalm:Most of the time it’s not a matter of not being able to afford the payment, it’s a matter of not letting a salesman/dealership just bend you over!!

Some dealers are smooth and even have the appearance of being professional but for my money they are as crooked as a dogs hind leg.

My brother bought a Lancer Evo X from Wallace Nissan in Kingsport TN. Nice car and one of the most powerful he had for a while. He had an issue with the transfer case and took it back for service. Luckily he thought to video the whole dropping off of the car experience, filmed the odometer and all around the car at shallow angles to capture any dents they may cause, captured each wheel then backed away letting the lot guys drive off to the shop.

He gets the car back and has a severe case of curbing on one of the wheels. He mentioned it to the guy and gets the dumb line "oh it was like that when you brought it". He says no and asked to speak to the manager. Surprisingly he got to talk with her, same line though saying it was that way when it came in. He asks her again and tells her to make sure. She says shes positive! He says ok and shows her the video and called her a liar. She just said they would have to look into it and would let him know. By the time he got home there was a voicemail saying they had ordered a wheel and it would be on them.

    Video everything you've got!

I avoid dealers like the plague, I've only met one or two that made me feel good.

One that has been good to me has been Autoworld Dodge in Big Stone Gap Va. I've taken my Dodge Cummins there twice, once for an update on a totally integrated power module and the other for an airbag recall. Super nice and were very understanding that I had disconnected the airbag already!

Along those lines, before I took the truck to Autoworld, I had been putting a clutch in the truck. I take my sweet time with a lot of things and the truck was out of commission while I was changing the clutch. I got the airbag recall card at that time and it directed me to go to a dealer in Kingsport. The only airbag inflator they initially had available was for the drivers side so I thought I could take the airbag to them and have them swap it and I'd put it back in the truck. I called to ask them about it and was told that they needed the whole truck. That part was fine but the guy then started berating me about how I shouldn't disconnect it and that it could have went off on me, etc. I told him I had the same factory service manual he did (I actually do, NO BS) and that what they're doing isn't exactly hard. The guy must've got pissed and hung up.

Telling that to Autoworld just caused the guys there to laugh and tell me they didn't blame me for disconnecting it.

Best experience was looking at a sentra spec-v back in the day, the saleswoman stated "are you looking to buy, or are you looking to look?" then motioned towards the exit. I'll never understand their pricing either, even in 2017 you really can only take $550 off MSRP of a 370Z, with me sitting there checkbook in hand??

Being in sales myself for 35 years (not auto sales) I can recognize a phony personality within seconds. When I walk into a dealership I flat-out tell the salesman to talk to me like we've known each other for years and that the minute a smell bullshit coming out of his or her mouth I will turn around and leave without saying a word....it usually works.

I bought down in Tucson at Desert Toyota. Kind of wish I had given Camelback a try first, but I was in a shitty situation. I had a 2012 STi that I was trying to part with. Took into into the Subaru dealership in Tucson and they looked it over for a buyback quote. Came back and told me the paint had been redone and I was like, wtf? I bought it from them certified used. They fucked me and I couldn't get what I wanted for it. Carmax found it too. Drove it straight to Toyota and they didn't even look at it in the parking lot. That's not the point of this thread though...

Precision Toyota at the Automall in Tucson has to be the worst experience I've had looking at a vehicle. I was there in 2013 or so looking to trade my Ram 1500 in for a lower payment vehicle. Long story short, I walked after seeing the numbers. The manager comes in to tell me I'm making a big mistake and pretty much grills me for wasting their time. The salesman called me two weeks later at 8pm to tell me he was glad I didn't purchase the vehicle because he found another buyer that ended up paying more than the deal we worked out.

At a Mazda dealership, knew which car I wanted and had my budget all figured out. Salesman insisted on trying to sell me on a fully loaded version of the same car with an automatic transmission and a colour I didn't want. I swear he used every single scumbag sales pitch ever created, it was a complete joke. Had he just listened to me he might have made a sale.

I bought a Prius at a Toyota dealership south of Nashville. We decided on a price OTD. I brought a good down payment, and we agreed I’d finance 10k even. Then he asks what kind of payment I want. I said I don’t care about the payment; let’s do a 60 month loan term. We agreed on the terms. I went back to financing with my sheet, and the contract put in front of me had a borrowed amount of 11,700 which they tried to not point out even though they are required by law to do so.

The bait-and-switch they pulled was this: my credit was so good that my payment for 10k @ 60 months was $25-30 below the bottom number of their estimated payment range for 60 months. So the jerks back in financing added money to my loan to bring the payment up where they thought it should be. I was so pissed. If you want to know who it is,

I’m not saying any names, but it starts with T and ends with OYOTA OF COOL SPRINGS. Buyers beware.

I have a different kind of salesman experience that worked out for me in the end. When I moved into my new place, out in the middle of the woods, it wasn't set up for Comcast, landlords said they were quoted $8k to bury the line. I called to get setup and figure out what I had to do, without paying $8k I was gonna make this happen.

Comcast salesman dude kept pushing a plan, what plan do you want, can we get this locked in, etc. I told him I didn't really care at this point, just get me hooked up. He didn't seem to understand that I didn't fucking care about his plan, I could change it within 90 days of getting connected anyways so I just agreed. Multiple techs came out and said no, we have to get surveys and bury line as its over 600 feet, blah blah. 2 months goes by, multiple phone calls to figure out what's going on, just get the run around and I get a call asking me to pay my 2 months behind bill. Wtf I don't have service nor am I actually connected yet. They realized they dropped the ball and short story, we'll be calling you back shortly with a plan.

30 minutes later a tech shows up like wtf I was told this was an emergency call. I explained the situation, turned out he was a 30 year tech and knew his shit. Said if I can hook you up today you want to do it? Sure shit. I cut a path through the woods and he ran an aerial line the other techs said was impossible. Only problem, he couldn't help with the 2 months back charges, they weren't gonna budge for him. He got $100 off but I'd have to call. So I did. The lady said they take care of like 90% of it but there was like $20 that was part of the new service. Fine whatever. 2 days no change, my login still says I gotta pay or my shit will get shutoff even though I've only had service for 2 days at this point. So I call again and somehow my old account and new account haven't merged yet or something and this person agrees to remove the charges. So over the next couple days, $100 comes off, 2 months charges come off, so now I'm positive balance, I'm experiencing some connectivity issues (not due to the install but turns out was due to their own pole needing upgrades) so I get a couple days credit there. Then like a week later I get another credit for like 2.5months charges with no explanation.

So apparently their divisions don't talk to each other because at this point a tech shows up to evaluate for the line burial. I explain to him what happened and he basically says since I have already been hooked up, that puts Comcast on the hook for the burial, which is still the preferred option, the overhead line will he a bit vulnerable come winter.

So pushy salesman that had to have a commitment ended up saving me not only about 5 months charges, but also the cost of the crew coming out and burying the line. Blew my landlords mind I was able to finagle that

I worked as a sales guy for about six months back in 2006 at a Honda dealership and learned a lot of the dirty tricks by dealerships. Years later I still see some attempts by them to rip people off.
Two years ago, we bought my wife’s Kia Sorento. We bought from Kia of Cerritos because they had the car she wanted $5K below sticker as advertised by TrueCar.com. Once there, they showed me an “amendment” to the sales price with a bunch on junk on it adding up about $4K in added cost. My favorite item on that amendment was a “processing fee” for $1500. So I asked what that was for and the sales said it was a quality check on the vehicle upon arrival to the dealership. It’s called a PDI or Pre-delivery Inspection which they pay a porter minimum wage to check a few boxes on a checklist. It takes about half hour per car. The sales guy confirmed that’s what it was. I was about to walk until he removed all of items on the amendment and honored the $5k discount. We bought the car there because it was such a great deal and my wife loved that particular car. But I will never go back there for anything and I will never recommend anyone to go there. Sadly, they’ll be in business for a long time to come.

At Tasca Ford my wife (now ex)and I were just looking for her. My wife asked a question and the salesman says "Maybe I just talk to your husband, eh?" Hilarious but stupid, we left.

Don't go to Haddad in western mass unless you want to be charged for work they didn't do, have your paperwork changed prior to delivery with add-on and higher payments. 3 hour oil changes. Much much more, grimy pricks

My Taco salesman was a typical car salesman. I waggled the price as low as I could go, and added as many accessories that I could before we signed the contract. It went back to his manager several times, but when I was about to sign it, half the accessories weren't written down. Told the wife to grab her jacket, we were leaving.

    I got my way!

Bobby Belcastro (Belcastro Motors) out of Grand Junction, CO is a good salesman and great human. I will never buy a new (or low mileage) car/truck from another person/dealership.

He didn't have a Chevy Colorado to test drive so I went over to the closest Chevy dealership. While on the test drive I put the truck in whatever "S-mode" is in the Chevy and the sales guy asked me what I was doing/what is that setting. I then pretty much explained AT vs MT transmissions to him and educated him on the truck he was trying to sell me (he also lied about the Sticker options saying it was a typo and that stuff was on the truck that was not). I also experienced the odd text from him/dealer asking me what it would take to get me in a Chevy after I bought the Tacoma...

That said the service "check-in" people at the Toyota dealer in GJ are garbage but the techs are good IMO.
