I got 12.5mpg last fall when I towed a U-Haul motorcycle trailer with my bike on it from Atlanta, GA to Danville, IL. Boy was I ever so pissed. Needless to say I don't use uhaul's trailers anymore.

OP, i dont beleive all this 19-20 averages either, i get 15 if im lucky w/ 265/75/16 on stock rims on a 2wd. I dont feel as if that is a big enough difference to loose 5 mpg's. It doesnt matter how hard my foot is pressed it never changes. especially seeing all these people with 33"s on aftermarket rims wayy bigger than mine saying 17-20 i wont beleive it till i see it. I finally just started ignoring the MPG's and enjoyed the truck for what it is. either way i look at it it is better then my 10 mpg jeep :)

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
When I first got my Tacoma in April it was new and not broke in yet, in town I was averaging 12mpg and maybe 16 on the highway. I admit I was kinda pissed at first but became patient and now after putting a shade over 12k on the odometer it has been getting around 22mpg average city and highway driving. If it is all highway I can squeeze 24 out of it easy. My best tank was like 530 miles on premium fuel, on regular I average about 350 depending on how I drive it, but have managed to get 410 miles on regular driving like a granny.
Now with all the nasty Wyoming wind we have been getting I bet all my numbers are going to change dramatically whenever I drive home to Montana for Thanksgiving break!

    As noted here http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/187368-fuel-saving-modifications-maitainance.html

Most vehicals gain 3-4mpg using Ethanol free fuel including tacomas. Went to many sites and found that to be the average amoung trucks. I am going to test this by filling up ethanol free or shell 91 (specific station) next time.

    driving 1000 miles
    14 mpg - 71.4gal x $3.80 - $271.32
    18 mpg - 55.5gal x $4.10 - $228.66

So I actually save $400-$600 a year using ethanol free. [IMG] The truck burns cleaner and lasts longer. Increase in power and performance. I have a friend with a 87 jetta, he was using 87 when he bought it and had agressive vibrating and starting problems, switched to 91 pure, no problems since. Adding fuel cleaner is a must though every 3 months because of the lack of cleaner in the fuel.

    driving 800 miles
    14mpg - 57.14gal x $3.80 - $217.13
    16mpg - 50gal x $4.10 - $205.00

If you drive more you save more using ethanol free. Im getting 14mpg right now, will check the next time I fill up with ethanol free.

Well if there was no heat valve to ethanol and the mix was 10% as it is here in Maine I would gain 2 MPG but there is some value so I'm guessing at best maybe a MPG. So I'm not driving to VT (10% ME and NH) to buy 100% gasoline and even there it's hard to find.
