I have a 4 cylinder, 2.7L, RWD, 2006 Manual Transmission Tacoma that I love. I’ve just started a demolition company with my brother and realizing I need a trailer hitch/trailer to make more efficient runs to the dump. Is it worth it to get one installed on this model Tacoma or should I consider investing in something bigger?
I’d probably be towing 2-3k lbs regularly.

Is this a 5 or 6 lug truck?

Get a bigger newer truck. I’m also assuming your weight estimate doesn’t include the weight of the trailer. Get a truck more suited to your business needs. You need something that can more than do the job and is dependable. An old 4 cylinder truck isn’t that truck. Get another truck for your business and you can write it off as a business expense and depreciate it.

You could definitely haul around a little 6ft trailer. You are going to run out of power for heavy stuff quick. Keep it light.

Having owned two mid-size trucks with 4 cylinders I have to say they can absolutely tow 2 to 3 thousand pounds. Not the best but don't let anyone tell you you can't do it.IMG_2398.jpg
