Don’t get me wrong. I love the predators but the dealer cost versus what they’re worth after market is a drastic difference.

Im in the bay too. Try looking further south towards San Jose or Fremont area. You can find less. Toyota Sunnyvale offers no markup

Oh. And to the op I’d never buy a used truck or car. No one ever sells a good truck, a lot of body shops these days don’t use carfax. You never know if said car/truck was in a wreck and shady repaired to look new again. Save your hard earned $$ and find a new one.

California the land of fruit and nuts. Been here my whole life. Yes the price of EVERYTHING has gone off the rails. The wife wants to move but where? Everywhere has the ups and downs. Sure you could find a truck cheaper somewhere else but those places have a lower wage potential and less of a market. A little insight; contractors here want a $100 a foot for a 6' fence, handyman wants $80 hour. You bet this state is doomed.

A few years ago NHPR played a story talking about a (then) new study showing more Californians relocated to New Hampshire than any other state. Apparently there are a number of reasons, but chief among them are no income tax and no sales tax. My wife and I are talking about moving to the Maryland (DC area) later this year; I'm going to miss the lack of taxes.

Except for New Hampshire most of the New England states have a tax for everything you can think of. If I were moving it'd be South Carolina, or Florida.

Some of us cannot do with warm humid weather, doubly so for those of us who cannot do without snow. :)

Y’all are still talking about it as if there is different pricing by state. Msrp is the same nationwide. “My dealer has it at 40k” is a meaningless statement unless you’re comparing the same options/truck.

there are Tacomas here for 27k and 53k. California is the nations biggest Tacoma market

Msrp also depends what these trucks come with. Our state require's some things like mud flaps that they come with. All the trims of tacomas I've seen here have fender flares to go along with the mud flaps adding to the msrp cost.

I think it really depends on the options, there is a huge range of technology options, Sport vs Off-Road, and then the interior options to consider. That price for a nice higher end tech packaged out one, yes, if it's a base model that doesn't have even the factory GPS in the screen, then no.

Are you willing to pay that price for the trucks you see online? I got my Cement 2021 with 8K miles on it for $42K last summer, but it has all of the options I wanted, plus heated cloth seats, which are very rare to find.

Yup, that's why we're compromising on the Bethesda, MD area for our next move. She's thrilled, I'm a little less sanguine about heading south.

The tax man awaits your arrival. I pay more taxes in MD than I did in CA. This is very off topic, but make sure you’re moving here for the right reasons, and pick a home in a good location.

Back on topic, unless prices have drastically shifted, it doesn’t make sense to buy 2-3 year used over new. Especially in a vehicle that could have been abused.

It didn't make sense for me back in jan. of 2020 to buy a 2019 leftover vs a new 2020. I might of got a much better deal taking a truck off a dealers lot, but I didn't get the exact vehicle I wanted. I use to do that in the past buying off the lot, but being older now I wanted to treat myself to something different for a change.
