if gas werent so high id definatley consider a tundra, ive never driven one but i imagine they have a lot more power than the taco plus the inside has so much room and looks sweet!

Now would be the perfect time to buy one. The local dealer has an ad for something like $7000 cash back. I would consider it at some point. Right now, no, I just don't need it. However, I invest in real estate on occasion (sitting on a rental right now) and do have use for the bigger bed at times.

If it wasn't for the gas, I would say yes.. not for a daily driver, but I dig the HUGE Tundra Crew cab!!!

I'm actually going to go the other direction and probably trade in on a 4runner or rav4.

Not in a million years, way too big. Someday in the not too distant future the mid size trucks like the Tacoma will be largest common size and the tundra size trucks will be the niche big size work trucks. Why? Because the era of cheap gas is over, and it will never to return.

I think the new Tundras are a badass fullsize truck, but it is way too big for my needs. If I had significant disposible income, I would buy one just to F with the ford lovers I work with and to disgrace my Titan owning a-hole boss.

consider it as an upgrade? no

the tacoma will not be traded in on such...or any truck really

however if i ever reach the point that i need something to tow the tacoma to trails...then i'd consider it

    You use the word "upgrade."

I don't agree with the premise that Tundra is an upgrade over Tacoma.

    So, no.

    Thanks

Auxilllary backup lights, removed secondary filter,
Where I got my Tacoma, Jim Bishop Toyota, Tuscumbia, Alabama, I could have gotten a Tundra with 4 Doors and the V6, with normal convenience package for 19,800. The oil filter was in a strange place !!!!

    My Tacoma was 19,100.

I cannot park a Tundra in my basement and the turning radius would have been tough at home. My wife sat in a Tundra one evening and had to climb in...not hop in, but climb. If I had kids and towable toys, I would still get a Tacoma. It fits me just right.

My salesman tried to push a Tundra on me so hard. I could have gotten the Tundra for $1-2K cheaper and in a week's time, same color, same equipment. I said Hell NO and waited 2 solid months for my Desert Sand Taco! Told him if they looked like they did last year I would have gotten one of them. Too big, period. The Taco barely fits in my garage and I wasn't about to leave my new $30K truck parked outside because it was too big to go in the garage. After the salesman saw he wasn't gonna change my mind he admitted he had drove one for a few days and he had hell getting it into his garage too!

It's a lifestyle change more than an upgrade. My Tacoma is too much fun. And I have a ways to go as far as mods before I hit the price tag I would have spent on a fully loaded Tundra. When I was picking up my pride and glory at the dealer, I browsed toward a sweet looking Tundra and luaghed my way back to my seat after seeing that $40,000 sticker price. I like to spend money, but rather research the market on how best to spend it...

LOL! I love how some folks are so absolutely certain about this. It's as though they don't realize that oil is a traded commodity and the current rise in prices is based on speculation, not shortage. The bottom WILL drop out of it eventually (oil went down $4.35/barrel just yesterday), most "experts" are saying by the end of the year, and we'll be back to "cheap" gas again. Some of you guys just seem like you enjoy crying wolf because this is the same stuff you heard in 1973.

Let me put in my observation here: today my Wife and I were cruising down the freeway and a 2nd-gen Tacoma dc came past us and we both just watched that truck as it cruised past us. We almost simultaneously commented on what a handsome truck it was. You 2nd gen owners have precisely that-a very durable looking stout right-sized truck. We think the Tundra's nice too but the Tacoma has a set of attributes all its own and is relative to NO other truck-That's it. Proud to say my truck is the same at 7 yrs:)

id love the new Tundra double cab TRD with the 5.7L, but they're too damn expensive and they dont get good enough gas mileage for a daily driver like my Taco. Probably should have a full size for the work i do though, you guys seen the backhoe i tow with mine? yeah, check it out in my gallery. thats one of the reasons id get one. Actually, if i wanted a big truck, then i'd probably go get a diesel though, or maybe wait for the 1/2 tons with a lighter diesel in them like the chevy, etc. 2010's are supposed to have.
