Would anyone like to see an "All wheel-drive" Tacoma option?

One can never have too many light bars.
The 4Runner and Land Cruiser as well as the Lexus SUVs already have this system it wouldn't be revolutionary for Toyota in the slightest

That doesn't look like a very good design. The problem is that it runs straight rails that terminate at those small front wheels. If you look at a snowmobile suspension, the front ~1/3 of it angles up to allow it to climb up the snow. This looks like it would be more likely to submarine.

My pops was alot like the but a different after market kit. My pops you removed the front wheels and ski assembly went on with no wheels. Rural route mail carriers and power companies had some up this way. DON'T get one stuck, no Tacoma's back then to pull them out !!

Tacoma Limited should have the 4runner Limited fulltime transfer case, along with a locker like the old 4runner limited. Front KDSS would be amazing on the offroad.

Limited should mean everything available. The 4runner always had all the toys available to it. The 5th gen is a little softer though.

Braking is a function of slowing a moving vehicle...4wd is a great help in doing this through down shifts.

Yes sir !! I think they still do a meet for Model T's and A's up in NH every winter. Ossippee ( ? ). Ya only had 20hp to begin with so you can imagine what the extra lbs and drag did to these !!! MTFCA site has pics I think. I had a 1964 Ski Doo some years back and he had that and I use to kid him how my 8hp Kohler was faster than his 20hp Ford. lol, Thanks for reminding about those days, I miss them.

I had the Selec-Trac on my '93 ZJ and it was convenient at times. I usually left it in 2hi, but there were times where the 4-hi part time was a nice 'security' feature. I remember it being the most useful the day after a storm, when the roads were clear in some spots and covered in hardpack in others. It was handy for that surprise 'snow patch in the shade' halfway around a tight curve.

LOL i don't know why either. Every 4runner Limited 99+ 3rd gen had the AWD tcase option.

Also, all manual FJ cruisers have an AWD/4HI/4LOW t-case (no 2HI though, so slightly worse MPG) which would bolt up to a tacoma tranny.

That's my 11 year old 2 wd/ AWD/ 4 wd multi mode SR5 4 Runner. A great all round vehicle. I did have a position light switch replaced under warranty. From 2010 on, Toyota 4 Runner stopped with the multimode and only offered AWD or 2wd/ 4 wd like trucks. IMHO, it was a reliability issue.

For my money, the limited slip in my Tacoma is so good, I use it instead of 4 wd setting on plowed snow covered roads. Only when the hills are steep or the snow is deep do I use 4 wd. Weight in the back and snow tires are a must in snow country.....live in Maine. Of you have snow tires and weight, there is no need for AWD for changing conditions.
