Getting married, unless you already are. Then you got it down.

Met my wife in the third week of April, 2000 and was married on the 21st of May, 2000. I have been married to her for almost 14 years and I strongly believe that we may be the happiest married couple that I know or ever met. We are best of friends and I would never put our relationship in jeopardy. I think that the problem with today is not everyone takes it seriously and its too easy to go and get a divorce if "They're not happy". My advice to you is to work through the issues and be honest to each other. I could go on and on about what I have done and what you should do, but you must make your decision and as long as you don't lie to each other, respect one another, and remember that you made a vow before God, you will be alright! Good luck and Aloha! :)

best advice I ever heard is from buddy who is married to his high school sweetheart for 35 years....
"just don't talk about divorce, separation, etc. And don't hang with those that dwell on the subjects."
    Makes sense to me.
Takes work to make it work.
2nd time here, nearly 7 years this time , 18.5 last time:confused:.

Holy shit! That was pretty quick though I live around Mormons so I have seen plenty that are just as fast and faster about getting married...

As I told shutterbug (via text and PM) my best advice for anyone under 25, is to not just rush into it. Take your time. You shouldn't make a decision that will last the rest of your life in just a few months. Though that isn't always the case as Airframes Chief can attest to. I would say that he is not the norm though. haha

My wife and I pretty much lived together for 3 years before we got engaged and literally lived together for half of our 14 month engagement. We've been together for about 5.5 years now and have been married for 1.5 years of that.

I have seen a lot of couples rush into things too quickly and think they know and love the person after a short time (when you're both still twitterpated and acting slightly different from all the excitement and unknown). If you end up marrying this person during this time, what happens when the excitement of the new and unknown wears off; real life sets in; and realize the person you are married to is nothing like the person you were dating? I've seen this happen a time or two now and it makes no sense to me...

I've also seen those couples that choose to wait it out and eventually get to that same situation, but it is much easier for them to break ties and move on.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't get married or you shouldn't wait forever to propose and what. I'm just saying take some time, preferably at least a year (especially if you are under 25, people change so much from 18-25 as the leave home and find a place for themselves in the world and such).

I saw this exact thing said in an article a few weeks ago. Basically said to never pull the D card. Saying it, even if you don't plan on doing it, puts it as on option on the table for both parties...

LOL! :) That is some very good advice, Brady! I know that things went very fast for me and my wife. Shoot, we were only 19 yrs old at the time of our "Drive-thru" wedding in the Little White Wedding Chapel of Las Vegas, Nevada. I think that the funniest story that my wife and I tell everyone is that we couldn't even buy an alcoholic beverage to celebrate our marriage so we went to a 7 Eleven on the strip in Vegas and bought a slurpee!!! We will always remember that and as constant reminder, we have a strawberry slurpee stain on our marriage certificate! Anyways, I believe in love and so does my wife. We entertain each other, laugh, cry (not me;)), and LOVE the way that a man and woman were meant to. I pray that everyone finds someone special in their life that they can spend forever with. Aloha! :D

The fact is... If you go into marriage half assed that is what you will get out of it. Too many people give up when there is a little rough water and call it quits. If children are involved that makes it 100 times worse.

Get married to someone that shares your interests and core beliefs and the rest should fall in place. It takes 2 to make it work so if one of you are unwilling it is doomed. Try to find that out before you commit.

I'm not in any situation to be giving advice on this but X2 in the bold.
There are girls that I have a great time with and we share lots of interests, BUT, I know I'll never change my fundamental beliefs and they won't change theirs. So they're not even on the radar.
