Anyone know where I can get a new color matched rear bumper? I don't understand Toyota's logic to use a chrome rear bumper and a color matched front bumper. I have a Barcelona Red 2012 DCSB TRD TX/PRO with an ugly chrome rear bumper that I'd like to replace to one similar to the TRD Sport mode. Question is, can it be simply replaced? Where can I get an already painted one and what should I expect to pay for one? Any online links?

There are a few options, one is get some color matched paint and take your time with prep work and go after it that way, another way would be to get a color matched bumper off of ebay or get a used bumper from someone with a Sport the same color as yours who may have upgraded to an off road bumper.

When I was looking to buy my 17 I looked at an off-road and the reason I didn't buy it and went with the sport was the color matched bumpers

I'd be interested in your chrome bumper. Is it dent free? Mine is banged up and I would like to replace it.

Honestly don't understand why they put a chrome grill, and a chrome bumper on an Off Road designed truck. I always buy Sports but to me the chrome belongs in the dumpster. But I would say it should have been on the Sport, not the TRD Off Road. Good luck with the search

I love my 17 sport, but I hate the chrome grill and badges.

If you are talking about the cheese grater type grill that some of the 17s have, I bet you could mask that off and spray it with black bedliner pretty easy.

Your best bet is probably to scour Craigslist or eBay and find a painted one and just have it color matched. Painting chrome requires a lot of work.

The chrome logic is probably to prevent wear on a paint bumper. I'm glad mine is chrome, I'd beat the shit out of a painted one.

I had the same issue with my 2015 trd off road. I hate the chrome accents. I didn’t want to go the rattle can route on a brand new truck at the time. Fortunately for me, I live right by a powder coating shop and they were able to powder coat my rear bumper to match my truck. Cost about 170 I believe to powder coat it then put a clear powder coating over it for extra protection. Powder coating is tougher and more durable than paint. Take your time removing the bumper and popping off the plastic cover on top.

Yep, no issues. As long as your bumper isn’t rusted out or anything, they should be able to color match it. The back of your bumper is coated in this rubber type stuff I guess to help stop rust? Idk but the powder coat shop scuffs up your bumper by spraying it with some type of media kind of like sand blasting to help the coating stick and then just powder coats it the color of your choice, and then a clear powder coat over that if you want it. The guy told me I didn’t need it and it would have been fine with out it but it was like 50 bucks more so I opted for it for just another layer of protection. It looks factory now. No one can tell it used to be chrome, but it’s much tougher than if you were to just get it painted. I believe it’s cheaper too, although I never got a quote from a paint shop. I don’t have any pictures on my phone of the back of my truck right now, I’ll take some later but you can kind of see the sides of the rear bumper in these prior to powder coating and after FADAF2B0-120B-4D74-B04F-4019E4D6E417.jpg

Thanks... Actually I just bought the truck a month ago from an older gentleman and the bumper is brand new. He was honest enough to tell me that he had some dings and rust on the old bumper, so he had it replaced at the dealer with a new one.. I'll see if I can find a reputable shop here in Columbus, OH that can powder coat mine as well..

There's a hood 'scoop/non-scoop' trade thread. Kinda surprised there isn't a bumper trade thread.

I know I'd prefer a color-matched one to the chrome one that's on it. Already did the grille and door handles...

I just googled powder coating shops in Columbus, oh. Looks like there’s a good amount. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding a shop to do it. Post pics after
