as you guys may know already
all the 4 banger trucks have the rear leaf springs under the drive axle
and all the v6 ones have the springs on top of the axle
    since toyota did this
is it ok to move the springs to the top of the axles like the v6's?

Thats called a spring over axle conversion. Its pretty popular on some wranglers and other vehicles.

If you did that, you would lift the rear end (axle tube diameter + 2*spring perch + leaf pack thickness)...which I would guess is somewhere about 5 or 5.5"

So Id say probably not unless thats what your trying to do.

Yup it is a common cheap lift for any vehicle that came sprung under. You would have to weld on new spring perchs on top of the axle though.

If your truck is a 5lug it is spring under in the rear. 6lug is spring over. If you move your 5lug rear to spring over it may require custom fab to the front suspension to match the rear lift height. I'm not sure if the total chaos front kit may match lift height.....
