Bought new wheels and tires and the "tire pros" at the local tire shop didn't inform me that too much offset on the wheels would rub. Now I've got great looking wheels and tires but at full turn they rub on the metal frame (known as the Cab Mount).

Would it be wise to just get 1.25" wheel spacers or have the local fabrication boys CMC my brand new gen 3 :bananadead:? I could always take the wheels off and sell them but I am pressed for funds right now and would rather not go through the trouble of having to sell them and buy new ones.

Wheel spacers could be around $250 bucks where as having the fab boys chop into my frame could be $$$$$$ more costly. Not sure what to do. 20160809_153201[1].jpg 20160809_153219[1].jpg

Usually don't need a CMC for 265s, but if necessary you can get a CMC for a c-note or so , it's less than an hour, less if you chop it yourself then bring it in to have the plates tacked in, plates available from BAMF or can have the welder cut some for you. If you want to run 285s the CMC is a necessity 90% of the time. Doesnt affect the appearance of the truck . Spacers generally are to get tire off the UCAs or for appearance

I looked at the spot where it would be cut and it looks like it is already pretty flat. When you cut, are you just taking out about 2 inches back and then welding it straight again or is it supposed to be contoured with the tire? I used the seach button looking for gen 3 pictures of cut cab mounts but no luck yet.

I will check their website, thanks.

-12 and i think that is MM. Backspace is 4.5 MM.

Put on the Bilstein 6112's with coilover and Camburg UCA's and was told to get tires with at least 4.5 backspace but the fuckers at the tire shop didn't tell me the rims i looked at were severely offset. He heard 3 inch lift and just assumed they would work.

Did you get an alignment done already? You rubbing with size is pretty much unheard of. They may be able to put more castor on because I hear that moves the tire forward somehow.

I ran 265/75 for quite some time before I lifted and went bigger on tires. Never came close to running. So you are correct, he may need aligned

That is what I thought. I've read numerous threads where 265/70/17's fit with none to maybe a little plastic trimming. I'm thinking the place that did the alignment screwed with the castor and moved it back too much.

Im running 4.5 backspacing with 0 offset and 265/75/16 tires which going by the wheel tire calculator is basicly the same size tire as yours. my suspension is all stock and i dont rub anywhere

I'm going to call the auto shop that did it and have them mail me the print out. I think you knowledgable fellas would be able to help me out a lot more.

Thank you everyone for your input, this website has taught me a lot after buying my first toyota.

Have the tire shop put your new tires on your stock wheels and give you a refund for the wheels they sold you. No more rub and money in your pocket.
