I had an '04 and loved it. More than my '15. I think that's a good deal for sure if it checks out.

Good price for the truck. Maintenance will be a regular thing for you but if it's well cared for there shouldn't be anything major. Don't listen to all the negative Nancy's. First gen Tacomas are what made the Tacomas sell so well and are probably the best built out of the gens

It's a Toyota, so 300k, as long as it's properly maintained, is no big deal.

Expect to throw a whole bunch of stuff at it, though. The typical wear parts. Basically everything that moves, lol: suspension bushings, ball joints, tie rods, shocks, then all the typical motor stuff, too. But once you get there, it will drive like new and last another 300k.

Surprisingly I got that even with the supercharger on, so technically it wasn't stock...but everything else was (no lift, tires, armor, etc). Now that I have all those other things combined with the supercharger its a gas guzzling thirsty pig...but for all her flaws, she's my girl.

Condition means a lot more than mileage to me. But the price has to be right. I'm more than happy with my double cab, just ticked over 262k, and in much better shape than a lot of em under 200k.

Buying it just to save money on gas probably isn't a financially sound plan. The difference in milage will save you about 5-6¢ per mile you drive. That means it would take you a million miles to break even on the cost of the truck. Let's say you sell it a few years down the road for the same price as you buy it for, essentially owning it for free, you still have to maintain and insure it. Run the numbers, I doubt it will save you anything.

On the other hand if you just want to own a Tacoma I don't blame you in the least, buy it.

My Tacoma has 307k on it. I've had it for 17 years and bought it when it had 52k.

I just did the third timing belt/water pump, plugs/wires, driveshaft, brakes, CV axles, etc. I'm now also replacing shocks, upper and lower control arm bushings, recently did the steering rack and tie rods. If all that stuff has been done I'd say it should still be pretty solid. I haven't done too much else besides regular items.

I have no problem buying higher mileage Toyotas if they have a decent history. I just bought a one owner 2005 Tundra 4x4 DC for $6800 with 203k on it. And it's AZ so not a spec of rust.
