Toyota is missing out bigtime not building a competitor to the Gladiator. Huge area for sales. I would be a customer. As it is now, there are no new trucks I am interested in for my needs.

Yes but it would have to be affordable, which means it would have to cost less than a Jeep Gladiator. I want it to based on the next LC chassis, two doors, manual transfer case, and a manual transmission option. I don't need it to be a retro tribute to the original LC, and Toyota can call it a Tacoma if they want.

For me it would need to be mid size as a gladiator is, preferrably access cab 6.3 bed, 1600 lb payload, 6500/7700 lb tow, straight axles, manual transfer shift, good operation on and offroad. I prefer auto trans, the current Mojave gladiator has a lot of features I want in a new vehicle, but not everything, reliability being the number one decisive factor. I don't need removable tops, that is just a possibility of leaks in wet weather. There is huge inflation now is why you see the high prices, its nothing to do with the actual value of any vehicle. But I am sure if they kept a build simple, quite a bit could be carved from the 60K price tag on a fully loaded rig. Simple don't sell these days though. Not en masse. Luxury does sell.
