Yes, I would. A salvage (insurance write off) vehicle can be restored good as new, it just depends on who does the work.

    And what happened to it:

A flood salvage might look great and run great for a while, but the electrical problems can kill ya finding the corroded connections that show up over time, and fixing them.

I would not unless it was a something I was planning to drive into the ground and got it for cheap - under 5k. You will have major problems reselling a newer car/truck that has a salvage title.

Don't believe anything the seller tells you unless you are best friends with the guy. Way too many SCAMMERS out there.

I had a 2000 Corvette from 2000-2004 and it got hit in the front left QP in 2004 at about 35. It casued damage to the left wheel, suspension brake and very slight frame damage. It was sold as a salvage to the repair shop rather than repaired (insurance company gave money for repair because it was not technically totaled but was sold with frame damage in undrivable condition). The vehicle had 90K miles on it. That guy did his own repairs, put in new leather seats are rebuilt the engine. He was able to buy the vette for under 10K even after he repaired it (his cost). Anyone would have been happy with the car if they had bought it as a base car for a performance build up (like the buyer did). Personally, I wanted out because it was on a 6 year note and would have had repaired frame damge and 100K+ miles with a year of payments left. The garbage Chevy leather was mangled all to hell as well. Nothing in the drive train had ever give me any problems.

That is the exception rather than the rule. You really have to know how much frame damage the car had, know for damn sure the frame is straight, and be willing to purchase it outright and keep it since you will have almost no chance of selling it if there are any gremlins left over and the car just wont allign properly, has electrical quirks, etc.
