So ive been looking forever for the perfect tacoma, I only have a certain spending limit and all I can find are trucks with higher miles on them....

The current truck I found is a 05 TRD Sport with 120k on it and its an automatic... It has new tires and was just inspected and seems to be in good condition, they want 15900 for it.... So would you buy it? and how low could I talk him down to?

I did find a nonTRD but there rather plain looking to me...

that price is rediculous IMO for that year and mileage. i paid 18k for my 06 w/ 20k miles 2 years ago and i live in hawaii were the price of tacomas are high. have you tried craigslist? if you have that much cash then i'de assume your options should be better than that

I paid $15995 for my 05 TRD off road with 99,800 miles on it. Price was a bit high, but truck was very clean inside and out, had all the features I wanted, and was being sold as certified used. I'd been looking around online at other Tacomas around that price range, and all were in the high 80,000 miles to low 100,000's.

That seems high, especially for US prices, that's usually what I'd expect up here in Canada where things are always more expensive.

I bought an 05 AC TRD OR 4x4 in summer of '09 (2 years ago now) with 158K miles (255,000km's-ish) and I pad $10K on a private deal for it. Paint was pretty scratched and interior pretty dirty. It was used as a carpenters work truck so bed was scratched from him leaning over the sides all the time to grab stuff. Mechanically all was good though.

(Sold it for $13K 6 months later after a good cleaning :))

I wouldn't feel bad about buying a higher mileage Tacoma, but personally, I wouldn't do it. I would prefer to buy a new"ish" cheaper version, or different truck altogether.

I bought my 05 trd OR SR5 with 85000 miles recently for 14700. It's perfect inside and out, except for the AC. Which is being fixed today.

Kelly Blue Book for my area puts the truck price for a Private Party Sale at $14,445 for Excellant Condition, Good Condition is $13,600. Obviously, I haven't seen the truck but I was able to loosely enter the options based on a 4wd TRD Sport. I would think you could talk them down into the 13's.

i would buy a higher milage tacoma before i would buy any other high milage truck. rangers chevy what evers and even nissan can't keep up with the reliability of the tacoma.

i have seen a few that are up there in the milage dept. and i would mind driving them :)

Actually, that is pretty spot on, they do leave room for negotiating unlike buying them new. I would say it should go for about 14-15k.

OP, the price is what they go for for that mileage/year/package/etc. In theory, you are hoping because it is a Toyota it will run for another 120k without major repairs, however, there are some that just don't make it. If you aren't sure about whether to buy it because it is the only thing in your price range, you have to be prepared that if it doesn't make it for 120k or however long you expect, can you afford the repairs?

IMO, 120k miles that I have done and know of the work on it, I would buy in a heart beat, but I am hesitant to buy a vehicle that has 20k on it because who knows how it was treated for that short time. Not to say I wouldn't buy, hopefully you catch my point, you never know for sure.

Again, if you will be strapped and can't afford possible major repairs for a car with that sort of mileage, you may need to stay clear.

On the plus side, my brother is a master toyota technician, I will bring him along and he can go over the truck for me, if something doesent look right, hes going to know...

And if something does break, he can fix it for me, for free :) (except for parts)

I found a 2006 trd sport going for 17900 with 80k on it and a 2005 trd off road going for 16500 with 80k on it....is there any major differences between the two?
