My 2020 bone stock sr5 v6 has been running so good screw any of those tunes. I'd buy another truck like this in a heartbeat if needed.

Bought my 19 Tacoma brand new two years ago and 42k miles later, I have no complaints! Love this truck but I have been contemplating trading it in for a 4Runner as I don’t need the bed anymore.

You have a serious question, and you need a serious answer. I see you have enough information about 3 gen, Tacoma, so I'll not repeat that. I can tell you that the quality of 3 gen is below the quality of the first gen, so I will pass on 3 gen. That is my philosophy.

I really can't say that. My gen3 2020 tacoma is every bit as good in initial quality as my gen 1 2001 tundra. So far i expect this tacoma to run just as well at 300k miles as my tundra did.

In the spirit of being fair, I'm comparing the two vehicles as they come stock.

You can tune and boost these two motors quite a bit and I'd be curious to see which one can be suped up the most. I'm guessing the 2GR since it's designed to develop high rev'ing powerband of a car.

Yes, I think the 3.5 has more potential.

    Both are 2GR motors though.

I owed my 17 OR for nearly 5 years. Wasn’t there worst thing I owned but not close to the best. Just got a 2021 Titan Pro-4x and I don’t think I’d ever buy another Tacoma. Getting pretty much the same MPG as the Tacoma, and it’s a V8 with lots more power. Couldn’t stand the way my taco drove. Constantly hunting and shifting. Having to floor it just to get some power. Didn’t like the suspension either. Never felt like the Toyota quality was really there either. Only thing I’ll miss is the payment. Love the Titan so far. All but the camera’s. The resolution is absolutely terrible.

what about the Toyota quality did you not like? Specifically? Did something break?

Well rust was always a concern, having owned a 1st gen before and the problems with those. My door sill developed rust and became all pitted. Known issue on early 3rd gens. Was repainted under warranty. I coated the frame when I got it and washed it often. But even that looked rough after the first winter. My previous F150 or Frontier seemed to hold up much better over the winters. Condenser failed and that was replaced under warranty. Then just some minor annoyances, interior rattles, control arm whistle, pass seat vibration. Spring in center console handle broke. Did have 2 times where I felt like it was going to stall at a red light. Gave it throttle and it was ok, very random.

Biggest gripe was just how it had no bottom end torque and how it was constantly bouncing between 4th and 5th on the thruway. Didn’t ever want to hold gear. Had the TSB done. Helped a little bit was never right. Might of been worth it to get OVtune but couldn’t justify having to pay for something Toyota should of done from the start. Truck just wasn’t a great commuter and that’s mostly what I did. Might of been happier if I was getting 20+ mpg but the average was around 16-17

I've had my TRD OR 4x4 for a year now. I love it, but I wouldn't buy again. Its pretty small for a family of 4 and even though my kids are young I wish I had more space. The truck also has no balls, it feels so sluggish all the time. My old 05 F150 never felt that way and it was way heavier. If I could go back I would have bought another F150 or a used Ram 2500 Cummins .

I also don't offroad too hard. I usually just stick to forest trails for hunting, etc. I really wish I had more space and power.

Outside of that, its a great truck. I feel confident off road and it has every feature I wanted without too much tech. It is fun to drive and once my lift is installed and I regear, I may feel different about the whole thing.

    Stock and staying that way
My Tacoma is my first Toyota. If looking for another small truck I would absolutely buy another Tacoma Limited. No regrets.

That said I really only have a truck to go to the place we shoot at. I’m ready to drive a fun car again. But will keep the Taco until new car inventory is more readily available.

To give you an idea of how much I drive my 2016 has 16,000 miles. If I did not have that I would be looking at a 2022 Nissan Frontier. I like the new look. Our Tacoma still looks like 2022.

I'm always torn between an SUV & a Truck. So I always alternate. Since I only need 1 vehicle, it's always a tuff choice.

    Ideally, I'd want classic FJ or a Gen.1 Taco and a 4Runner.

Absolutely have no need or desire for a car. Useless as tits on a nun.

    Like, so many.
I’d definitely buy again. I’ve had no issues. I love my truck and I get excited to drive it every day.
