What a great Friday thread! People feeling positive about their trucks and not afraid to say it! It is almost surreal!

I would also say that it is not only the truck but the company. Sure, there will always be those problems here and there when interacting with Toyota (I don't deny or gloss over that fact) but when there are problems I would much rather be calling Toyota than just about any other car company. Not saying they are perfect but they stand behind their products and do the right thing far more often than not.

I would depending on the situation. I bought a used 2016 Tacoma in January 2020. It was written off in May 2020 during COVID. The price of the used Tacoma's had inflated so greatly it did not make sense to buy anything used with low mileage. I ended up buying new and paid less than I would have for something a year old with very low mileage.

Thanks everyone, lots of good feedback here! I'm going to pull the trigger anyway, I just wanted to get an idea of what people were seeing these days with the 3rd gens... Toyota is the best IMO and I can't see thinking differently and buying a... Ranger!? lol. Hope ya'll have a good weekend, will drop pics when I get it!

First time truck buyer, mine is 2019 TRD Sport. Plan to keep this truck 20+ years, I hope. I would buy it again but hopefully I don't need to since the price of new Tacoma is getting ridiculous. The only exception is if Toyota comes out with electric truck 6 speed MT mid size.

    Would Most Definitely buy another.
I bought a '96 4x4 new and have 414,000 trouble-free miles on it and a '18 TRD Sport new with 24,000 trouble-free miles on it, so why would I not buy another one. The only reason I can think is that I don't need 3 Tacomas.

I'm in my first Tacoma and also first Toyota. I'd say yes. In 9 months no issues at all only service was the 5000 mile service and I changed the oil. No rattles, no shakes, it drives good. I seen some issues were had with the timing cover leak and water leak in the 3rd brake light but are mostly all 2016 and 2017. I have a warranty in case.

Ranger was the truck I was going to buy until I looked more at Tacoma and test drove one. knowing other family and coworkers that had Tacomas(1st & 2nd gen) loved them helped some too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6tRAQ_r0Ms Can't speak from personal experience, I'm picking up my first Tacoma in a few weeks, but this video was very helpful. The guy is a toyota tech and really seems to know his stuff. Almost every issue he highlighted have been fixed since the 2016/17 model years. I'm coming from a post-dieselgate "fixed" VW and cannot wait for the simplicity and reliability of a naturally aspirated Toyota truck. Everything is relative but I see a lot more people on here enjoying their trucks than complaining about reliability. You should check out the VW forums...

I'm on my second third gen.
If I had an unlimited budget, I'd have all 3 generations sitting in the driveway.

The 3rd gen is approaching the end of it's life cycle. With in a few years nobody will be able to purchase a new 3rd gen.

Im on my second 3rd gen. Just bought my 21 before christmas 2020 so buy the time im looking at new ones we may in civil/world war and/or the next generation of Tacomas. Unfortunately by then I may also be in need of a 2500HD size truck. Time shall tell. If the hail storm tonight totals my 21, i'll be looking for another 3g TRD OR.

Working for Ford for so long put a bad taste in my mouth for the Ranger. Ive seen too many of those 2.3L ecoboost become ecobooms. Also the bed rail height was an annoyance for me.

Every single response you have gotten is yes, except for the one guy who answered who doesn't actually own one lol. Take that how you will.

I myself say... maybe. I'd have to drive the other trucks that have been released since I bought my truck. My truck has been far from perfect, but the dealer has fixed every issue I have had that was a factory issue.

My truck still has some issues, but they are the self inflicted variety.
