This isn't the first post I have seen about some one who bought the taco and now complains about no space in the back. Did you look at the truck before you bought it?

If they did, I would have considered, may even gotten one to replace the Subaro and kept my 09 taco instead.

Well just put 600 plus miles on it over the weekend. Just got about 18 miles to the gallon on about 200 miles of highway, and about 100 of it is posted 75 mph, which I may have slowed down to once, the rest is posted about 70 and I had cruise set just under 80. While away, I was cruzing around snow covered roads enjoying the corners. Having fun driving is why I bought this truck, as it sucked to upsize from my 09, and it's fun to drive.

Bah, Toyota gods are playing a sick joke on me by giving me the stupidest problems that force me to think about how to get the broken truck home from remote places using the least amount of money. Look at my previous threads to see what I'm talking about.

I'd say I would probably not buy it again. I would really miss the style and interior but I wouldn't miss the way it drives. If I did buy it again I 100% would get a MT.

I would say the 2019 4-Runner will have the same engine with a slight power increase and their new 8-speed transmission announced last fall.

I would sure as hell hope they reconfigure it to make low end torque to go with the new 8 speed.

That is a great question. Would I buy again? For the most part YES. I do like the truck and the appearance. The ride is good not great. My biggest complaint is the lack of low end. I heard the 4.0 V6 had more of it and I wish they would have stuck with it. It just always seems to look for a gear and RPM. I have all the latest TSBs and fluid checks. It is WAY better after the TSB. But overall, I still take a double look when I get out at the parking lot. :)

    I wouldn't buy again.

I wouldn't recommend buying a 3rd gen. Too many wide spread significant powertrain issues and not enough responsiveness from Toyota.

I'm actually considering getting an old 1st gen and selling this turd to CarMax. I'll just sit on the cash until the ranger comes out or until I delude myself into needing a full-size. In which case I'll get a Ford. I'm not overly impressed with Toyota's "reliability".

Folks think the 6 shifts a lot, wait till there is 2 more gears to shift through.

Heh. It'll be shifting with every change in road grade and wind gust.

Ah for the good old days of three-speed on the column.

Hell yes I would. I have a '17 Sport MT and love it. If it were to get totaled today, I'd go out and pick up another one. It's my favorite vehicle I've owned. Simple, reliable, sexy, and fun to drive in the manual. I don't think you need to worry about reliability. People say so much about how the 3rd Gen is less reliable, but you need to take that with a grain of salt. People said the same thing about the 2nd gen when it came out. KBB just ranked the 17 Taco as the vehicle with the best resale value among all vehicles. The Tacoma is still king of the mountain when it comes to resale and reliability.

Yes. I wanted a 4x4 DC Tacoma. I could careless for all the extra bells and whistles. All I need/wanted was 4x4, DC and Tacoma. So the SR-5 fit the bill perfect.

However with that being said. If I didn't want a 4x4 DC Tacoma, no I would have spent my 30K on something way more fun.
