would you change oil mid "roadtrip"?

    If I'm anticipating a big trip like that I say the heck with it and change the oil. I can feel it when my truck hits that 5000 mile mark with old oild and I use Mobil 5000.

    Oil does break down- but it doesn't all break down at the same rate. With the correct filtering- I do believe that oil can last far longer than 5K. Some folks run Mobil1 for 15K just changing filters. It's all about the oil analysis. I wouldn't just jump into running oil 35K miles- You drain a little out and get it tested see how much farther it'll take you.

    found this thread while searching for something else and figured id comment

    in summer 2008 i road tripped to wisconsin from california. Changed oil on the way there in elko nevada at walmart ... changed it once in wisconsin in our shop (i did maint for a summer camp)

    on the way home, walmart again in missoula, montana.
