I have a DCLB, auto, flawless with 12k on it. Has a 4" lift and aftermarket Fuel wheels and offroad tires. Great truck but I'd want to use it offroad more than I'd need bedspace. Found a semi local 2016 TRD Sport DCSB with 13k and manual (which I love). Thinking I may be able to talk them into a straight up trade or evena little money to me based on how its priced. I'd need to buy a lift and swap wheels at some point soon but would you even consider this or am I nuts? My wife thinks the SB doesn't look right but I have this nagging feeling that I'd like driving it better with the shorter wheelbase (and it would fit better in the garage). The manual tranny is a bonus for sure

You are already married, so the extra inches are irrelevant at this juncture

Get the third pedal and park it in the garage

And the BroHoes love the skewps

I mean, they're worth close enough that I wouldn't consider the financial aspect of it. Do you want the MT and SB? Sounds like you do. So.... yes?

Agreed, that financial side is close enough to a push that it doesn't matter really. I haven't had a manual in a while so i just think it would be fun (and stop the frustration I have at times with the auto hunting). The SB, well, I like the looks and do think it would be easier to park for sure and probably wheeling it would be more fun as well.

I'll post back what the dealer says. Naturally I have bias my way BUT I think we should be able to do a pretty even trade. Manual isn't for everyone nor is long bed (although this dealer is located near a rural area so maybe LB is a good thing there) so those may be a push. TRD Sport pkg vs my SR5 w towing and the bro wheel/lift I have on it should be a push (imho again) so hoping they see it similarly. If not, I'll just sit tight until I find the right deal.

Good luck bro... gonna be hard to go "up" to a Sport at the dealer for even money... even tho we all know they are pretty much the same... dealer will think those decals are worth a few thousand I bet!

But you may be right about the LB and rural... IF I was a farmer the SB wouldn't be a truck I'd be looking at tbh.. Probably wouldn't be looking at a Tacoma either (if farmer) ... so there's that.

I've yet to have any problems off road in my DCLB, except the time I was still stock and high centered.... but that doesn't count.

I have the MT in this truck, I couldn't imagine driving this thing with out it. I'd say trade for the MT. Way more fun.

Well, the dealer must have hit the peyote a bit hard this am. He wants 34k for the Sport! 13k miles, tow pkg, otherwise stock Sport. I know they devalue (or don't add value for the lift, Bakflip, and wheel/tire upgrades) but still, he basically offered me 28k for my DCLB with tow pkg. Not even worth continuing that conversation. Plan B is to speak with the dealer I purchased the truck from just a month+ ago as the last thing he asked me was to sell it back to him if I ever were unloading it. I may let him know what I am trying to do and let him find me a suitable trade at a reasonable price.

Not surprised.... dealer wants to make coin on both sides... I paid less for my sport MT with 3 miles on it... sticker was $31.5K. Maybe they are leaving room for expected negotiations.

Tell dealer you want the pound sand option!

That checks. I priced out selling my loaded DCSB TRD OR with JBL at 19k miles and it was checking in at 32K value. That would be almost an $8k depreciation in one year if I was dumb and actually traded it. Car dealers are in the business of making money and they do it best when you make a trade.

We discussed that option briefly before I hung up. Semed nice but his manager is either assuming I'm naive or is one greedy sob. #theinternetisnothisfriend

Never underestimate the emotional decision making abilities of the consumer. You can kid yourself into believing almost anything is a good deal if you desire the end item strongly enough.
