We've got my wife's corolla to use as a commuter and for long trips if I don't feel like taking the truck. It's small for the family, but it's awesome in mileage. However, I can't even imagine what life would be like without my truck.

My Tacoma is a fuel efficient DD for me.
My Land Bruiser makes 9 MPG when I drive slowly

But on side note if I need more fuel efficient car I would spend $1000 on some pos daily commuter that I can beat and not worried about getting stolen or broken into on the parking lots, but still keep my truck.

I did the opposite. Just bought my 02 Taco a couple weeks ago, after having a honda accord for nearly 10 years. I've always wanted one and had the money, so I pulled the trigger... still have the honda around for trips to the city, but I LOVE this truck!

I traded in my economical car for this truck and I love it. I wouldn't want my crappy car back.

I have wanted a truck all my life. I finally got it! We got an AWD Honda CRV, that would be an alternative when gas prices go up. I will never trade my baby in.

I traded a car to get the truck. My old car got 34mpg. It was a hard fact to swallow, but my car refused to offroad successfully. :notsure:

Also, I have a 5 mile / 10 minute commute so no problem there. :D

ha ha I actually traded my 2002 Golf TDi (50 MPG) for my truck.
Fuel efficiency is great but i could not get home in winter. I was sick and tired parking 2 miles down the road and then walking home.
My place is completely off limits in winter for 2wd. And at times even 4wd without lockers will have problems getting in.
Two winters ago I had 2 inch thick sheet of pure ice. I could see ground underneath through it. No way to stand on it as driveway is 10-20 degree incline (some spots could be more) and requires off camber turn.

No. Truck is paid for. Would only cost me more in the long run and not be practical. Heck, I'm even considering stepping up to a little less efficient fullsize:D

    Sell my Tacoma....now thats funny:D:D..

We own a Camry XLE for those long commutes and the Taco might be even more fuel efficient if "we" pull the "trigger" and buy the "4-Runner"....need to "ramp" up the $$$ flow BUT it is in the "thought process";)..

Though my last car, a 96 geo prism got close to 40 miles per gallon, it paid for itself time and time again, so not too worried about getting 18 mpg now.
I have a sweet brand new truck. First new vehicle for me after driving less than $1000 cars trucks for the last 15 years.
Plus my girlfriend just bought a '10 Toyota Corolla, and its getting 29 mpg.
Anything is better than my old 1984 Landcruiser that I dorve for about 6 years. It got 7 mpg in the city and 11 on the hwy.

Nope. The Tacoma is the best all around vehicle for my lifestyle. I'm willing to give up some mileage to be able to haul all of my scuba gear around, go to the dump, haul lumber and mulch. I can't do that with any other vehicle that I know of. The savings on gas would be eaten up by renting a truck or having to pay to have stuff delivered.

I have a car and a truck, so when I take trips it is in the car. I certainly wouldn't own a truck if I didn't need one for work. That would make no sense to me. Cars handle better, are faster, better fuel economy, more comfortable and I could list so many, it would get boring. I haul stuff all the time when I flip homes, so I have to have one. I would rather drive a car all day long though. My other car is an Audi A4. Gets about 30mpg on the highway and handles great in rain, snow and dry. I feel much safer driving it considering that I could avoid accidents in it. My Tacoma, I have to drive it slower and give much more room since it can't get out of its own way.
