I lost track thousands of dollars ago.

I picked up mine with 89,000 miles for 14,995 it's in great shape it was a older guys rig and he took good care of it.

i agree with a lot of the other guys in this thread check over good and if everything looks good check it again.

All and all you can't go wrong buying a 1st gen Tacoma these trucks are amazing machines and it will last you a long time if it's taken care of.

bought my past 2 tacos each with over 100k miles upon purchase (first had a rusted frame so it was bought back) I got my current 04 taco with 125k on it and now have 150k and haven't had a problem since.

my grandpa has a 94 4cyl taco with 290k miles and its a designated farm truck and he puts 25k miles on it a year and atleast 20k of those miles are offroading around the farm and he has not had a single mechanical problem since he knows how to take care of it

3" body lift with K&N Air filter...more to come
I bought my 95 tacoma 4x4 v6 3.4 Automatic back in March... I wanted the truck off of a forum, but the guy sold it before i got my money, so i was looking on craigslist and found it again! I drove 2 hours to buy it. Spent $4,800. It had 264k miles, now is about to roll over to 268k. Its been beat up a little but not bad. I had the ball joint break on me while i was turning a corner on a dirt road and busted up my fender a little. But got those fixed (as they were stock). Also replaced the shocks (those were stock too). Just recently busted out my CAT because it was clogged. And now im still throwing some codes for something, it might be the 02 sensors because the CAT is busted out.
When i bought it, i knew it had a valve cover gasket leak (still haven't gotten that fixed, but my brother who builds engines says its a crank shaft leak). I've pulled a 2 horse bumper pull trailer with a 260 lb pig in it, and it didn't make me too happy in that neck of the woods. But it has a lot of miles on it, so i think shes tired. I dont know how a 3.4 with lower miles would have pulled it, but i do know my friends 99 with a 4 cyl, manual, hauls better than my v6. Granted hers has less miles but ive heard some great stuff about the 4 bangers, i want to do a swap but im unsure if it will just bolt right up with no mods. (oh yeah the motor mounts are shot too..... this is just to show you that i bought a truck that wasn't taken the greatest care of, but i drove it 2 hrs home when i bought it, and i still wouldn't hesitate to drive it long distances, I LOVE THE YOTAS!!!)

I also just bought one with about the same miles 260k. I had to do the shocks, struts, and coils up front. I need to do the rear springs (half a leaf is missing on both sides it's the same one on both sides to) and shocks rear pinion seal and fix an exuast leak were they put new exuast on but with a little to big a pipe. Got a couple other leaks nothing major. Overall not to bad. And it is still getting 23mpg. I have put about 1,000 miles on it. The guy I bought it from drove it 2.5 hours to my house to show it to me.

When I do my lift and go from 31's to 33's I better not drop to 14 that'll piss me off and she'll be in for a thrashing;).

It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
    gear it

my old taco had a bent valve and cracked head.50psi in cylinder 2, daily drove it and still got 22mpg. drove it like that for 18,000 miles...

    it's a toyota.

i'd have no hesitation buying a toyota over 200k miles unless it wasn't maintained or it's a 3.0 with earlier headgaskets.

god damn. this was so long ago.... i forgot how long i looked for a taco before getting one. I bought my truck the june after this post.

for the record, the truck i ended up getting had 121k miles and now i'm up to 141k. Still runs like the day i got it. replaced timing belt and suspension (more of an upgrade than a replace). I often speculate on how many miles i'll be able to get out of it. I'm hoping for 250-300. At 20k a year that should take me 5 years or so. But who knows with my lack of driving patience and right foot.

Mine had 116,xxx miles when i bought it from a toyota dealership. Previous owner was a pool guy(found business cards under seats lol) everything looked fine, no rust, exhaust manifold had a slight tick, but runs and drives like a brand new truck. Plus i point out all that stuff and named my price! INMO i would never buy a vehicle new unless you got all kinds of money to throw around.

Got mine with 178,000 miles on it. Before me it had been slammed into a tree and the driver side door had been bent all the way around into the fender by a fourwheeler. No telling what else was done to it that I wasn't told. Evidence of a roll bar, reverse lights and off road lights on front have been found...
