Would he ask for his daughter back if you tell him no?

Personally, I wouldn't let anybody borrow my truck. Unless it's a life & death situation and I'm the one who's going to die. I had my last car for 13 years, and nobody drove it but me.

You're doing his daughter - 1 point for you
You married their daughter - 1 point for you
You gave them a grand daughter - 1 point for them
You bought a Tacoma - 1 point for you
Your father in law doesn't have a truck - 0 points for them.

So clearly by my points system, you win! I know personally I wouldn't let anyone take my truck alone. It's my DD and the last thing I need is to have to get things replaced because someone didn't drive properly. The only time ever I would let someone else drive if it's an emergency and if I can't drive myself to the hospital

You could always tell your wife that he could use her BMW and stick them in the trunk and in the backseat. You know, "it's just a bmw".

I barely want myself driving my truck let alone let someone else "Borrow" it

My friend lent me his Lamborghini Superleggera for a weekend. Yes, I would lend my father in law my Tacoma.

I'm in the same boat. Once you open the can of worms, everybody all of a sudden will need to borrow your truck or need help moving some big item. The key is to be stern up front, before you have helped everybody and their grandma. Like said, it will piss people off, but that is not your problem. They are asking a favor, not demanding something from you.

Nobody drives my truck except me. Period. I may help some people out, but I will be the one driving, and I will be the one ording how the bed gets packed.

She makes you think your have a choice, you don't. Either you let her dad drive your truck and she's happy. If you don't, you won't be driving her(your wife, you still can drive your truck) for awhile.

I have a thought that if he lends his father in law his truck, it's going to end up on an episode of Tosh.O.

I let people borrow/use/rent me and my truck all the time. It's a truck and I'm a truck owner and it comes with the territory. I make sure I have a less than half tank of gas and I get it back full so I'm happy. 90% of the dings/dents/scratches that my taco has come from me and me using it as a truck, because that's what it is, not a 60's classic car. use the damn thing.

Two questions with the same answer:

Would you let anyone test drive your wife?
Would you let anyone test drive your truck?

If you said "no" to both the answers, you're right. There's your answer.
