Good point and I've been wondering the same and traded/sold so soon.

Maybe he ended up trading for a diesel. It is sitting at a Chevy dealer.

The sc gives the truck the pickup it should have had from the factory. The only thing i'd dump my taco for would probally be for the 6.2L SVT Raptor =)

Hence, get a good inspection done. Personally, I'd never let a brand new truck go that quick especially if I've just supercharged it...no time to really enjoy it. But then again you don't really know the previous owner's motive.

What are the chances the previous owner was a member of TacomaWorld or ToyotaNation?

Not only that but modding doesnt add too much too the value. My guess is the person supercharged it with expectations of holding onto it for a long time ( i plan to with mine ) and maybe hit a rough financial patch and had to drop it quick.

If it wasn't installed by a dealer, the warranty will almost gaurneteed to be invalidated by the service departments. If they say it still applies, it needs to be clearly documented and signed that the full warranty on the truck, all equipment is still valid for through the 36k period, all power-train warranty is still valid through the standard period (forget off hand I think 50 or 60k) and that the supercharger's installation has been verified by a Toyota service rep and deemed to qualify for the full warranty applied to the supercharger and truck.

If they're willing to get that in writing... I'd consider it.

If they're not... well it's up to you what it's worth and what your disposable income is for stuff that breaks. Tacoma's in general are very reliable, however whenever you start boosting ANY engine... you're putting more stress on it, and things tend to break more. It's all down to what you value.

FYI: I fully intend to go supercharged in the future, be it TRD or URD. Also note you will have to change the serph belt very frequently and inspect it as part of your oil change schedule, if not every fill up is wise.

    .

Talk to the previous owner and get lots of details. The dealer can arrange this easily. Why was the truck traded ??

Also, get receipts and/or dealership records where S/C was installed & service done.

IMO, I would check all this & get the Toyota extended warranty to cover your azz.

The extended 100K/7 yr Platinum Toyota Warranty should be around 1,200 to 1,500. (guessing here) ... get the dealer to thrown that in and then the dealer has to verify all this info. on installation & service records & etc.

Good luck man and keep your cool and do NOT show the dealership how much you want this truck.

I'm fairly certain the dealers are NOT allowed to give contact information out actually...

Really? i have never heard a dealer say they can or will contact the previous owner. I'm not sure why, but they are always secretive about it. Maybe the extra gas was killing him? it's be interesting to know why he traded it.

    .

... ^^^ ... Dealers do it all the time on high end cars. And if you push, they will do it.

Depending on the dealer and the situation too. On a 2009 S/C Tacoma, I would insist on talking to previous owner if at all possible.

The dealer can contact the previous owner and request that they talk to the buyer (this is often requested by the dealer when a high end car is traded in) ... done that before on both ends. The dealer can sell it easier and with a higher profit if the person who traded it in will talk to prospective buyer. This is IF, they have nothing to hide.

Or you can do a VIN/DMV search and contact the previous owner yourself w/o any dealer involvement. I used to trade various types of cars as a hobby. Car history is very important.

Just wanted to give you guys an update since you've been so helpful. The salesperson stopped staying in contact so I'm going to move on with my search. It was meant to be.

    Thanks for the advice, fellas.

True that. Something's probably not right anyway.
