What up ya'll. I got a 2006 SR5 V6 4WD with 230K miles and she's still running smooth as butter. Toyota replaced the whole frame in 2016....but they didn't replace the hitch bar:angrygirl:. Would you tow anything with this? I've never towed anything but now I'm thinking about it. I read other threads where people had problems replacing it, but most of my bolts seem in decent shape (maybe they replaced some of them in 2016?). I'd love to hear your thoughts....:pccoffee:

OP- i see a few locations on that hitch and its supports that have extensive corrosion, mainly the bracket that is “exfoliating” or peeling. Load path strength is severely compromised when corrosion goes beyond surface, I would search FB marketplace for one or other “for sale” websites. Im surprised Toyota did not identify that when they were changing the frame:confused:

Honestly doesn't look that bad to me, pretty normal condition for a midwest truck. Wouldn't hesitate to use it as-is for light to moderate towing. If you're pushing weight limits, then yeah, maybe consider investing in a new hitch.

You obviously have concerns, trust your instincts. I wouldn’t depend on the opinions of a bunch of internet strangers when it comes to my and others safety. You need to pull the entire hitch off and carefully inspect it and the attachment points on the frame. Hitches are not expensive, I’d just replace with a new hitch as long as everything else looks good.
