It's due to moisture build up. Usually from driving the vehicle when the engine is not getting up to operating temps to burn off the moisture. It's normal and can happen to any vehicle. You should just be sure to change the oil when necessary and it'll be find.

Happens to mine a lot. My work commute is only 3 miles one way and I rarely get above 40 mph.

Edit: I should type faster, haha!

Replace the word Engine with Ex_Girlfriend and this statement is valid.

Keep putting oil in it the frame is all most covered with rust proofing! That's a pretty good leak clean it and it will show up pretty quick. Do not worry about the yuck in the cap that's normal.

Im worried about the white foam inside of the crank case. That means water is getting in. Try to locate where the leak is coming from by cleaning the whole engine and then drive it around a bit. That's one of the worst leaks Ive ever seen from a Tacoma.

If the white stuff is just on the cap I wouldn't worry. But make sure it's not on the dipstick

White residue in the cap is as stated due to short trips. The milky residue does not burn off due to the short runs you take.

As for the leak I would just add oil as needed it will stop the frame from rusting out. :D

The leak is a known issue as well with toyota there is a TSB for it, if you are out of warranty pony up the cash or tackle it yourself.

Yes perfect name, lets just hope in this case she's not a squirter.

I'd clean it super good like the other guys mentioned. And also wouldn't pressure wash it, especially with it leaking that bad, water could def have a better chance on finding its way in where its leaking.

After you find the leak and get that taken care of, I might look into running some "Seafoam" thru it, I've personally never used it, but have heard good things about it, there's a thread somewhere on it. Then def do an oil change.

    That be my approach.

Looking at the positive side of it, it's rust proofed and you'll never have to change your oil. :)

In my younger days, my buddy's wife had an old Ford Granada that burned quite a bit of oil. When he changed the oil in his truck, he would put the old oil in his wife's Granada when it needed it.

Sorry, but you don't even know where it is leaking from, yet. It may not be from the Timing Cover.

But yeah, that should be easy to locate after a good cleaning. That looks like a severe leak!

What happened previous to the leak. I'm thinking it didn't just start spraying this much oil all of a sudden.

When you pull the dipstick, is the oil the same color as the cap? White. That's a mess.

The white stuff is water vapor it rises to the highest point the plastic cap is cool the vapor condenses on the cap normal occurrence it been going on in many types of vehicles for years. The burning of gasoline makes water, ever notice the water dripping out of your tail pipe?

Just a little update.... I cleaned the motor off the best I could with brake clean and degreaser..... I never put any powder on but it seems as if the oil is coming from around the crank..

I m going to remove the radiator fan and check the crank case filter....

The oil is clear on the dipstick no white stuff.

250 km is about half a litre of oil spilled

There's a lot of oil around and in the inside of the crank pulley which is hard to clean out of there without removing the fan.

    Never heard of this, ever.
Hope, for your sake, that this was sarcasm....
You need to drain your oil in a pan and check for water. Looks like you got a possible head gasket issue
